I love Joey!! I hate blackheads and Joey is the most effective product I have found to fight them. I won't name names but I have tried quite a few other products before coming across Joey. I did find that it dried my skin when I first started using it. It was not serious enough to discontinue use and the dryness subsided quickly. It does aid in getting rid of the blackheads as well as acting as a preventive in their reappearance. After the initial dryness issue resolved itself I actually find that this agrees with my skin and leaves it feeling a bit smoother. It does not moisten your skin so you will still need your own moistener if you use one. However, it does battle the blackhead situation and also seems to tame down the appearance of large pores which is a nice little bonus. You can find Joey in many cosmetic stores and through many sites. Most have the same or very similar cost. However, this is the only one I have discovered with the all important Free Shipping. Actually the price may seem a bit steep for a small bottle but that small bottle last quite a while and I find that I do get my money's worth.

Review - Demeter Fragrance Duet Gift Set

Angel Food/Caramel (Sweet Delight Collection): A sweet gift set with delightfully scented fragrances.
This sweet duo is an ideal gift set for a relative, friend, or as a treat for yourself. Both fragrances - Angel Food and Caramel - are labelled with recipes for the yummy foods of the same name.
DermStore price: $20.00 - Free Shipping!

I received this gift set and I am positively delighted with it. They are fun scents and I happen to love both. I had just spent quite a bit on a Carmel based perfume from the islands and actually now I am disappointed in it. This much less expensive Carmel fragrance is delicious. It is so sweet and smooth without being sickeningly sweet. Some of the Sugar and sweet scents can just be too overbearing with the sweetness -- I almost get a cavity smelling them. This is a refreshing Carmel while the Angel Food is also delectable. Again, it is a very light sweet scent which I enjoy. I have received many complements on what I am wearing whenever I have either of these on. I found the gift set at this web site and was pretty surprised at the very reasonable cost and to top it off -- Free Shipping. You can find the Demeter Fragrances many places but it is unlikely that you will also get the free shipping with a small order such as this. I don't think you can go wrong if you enjoy these - but they also have 2 other gift sets with scents that might suit your taste more than these two. Take a peek - you might like what you see. I think you will like what you smell!!

Review - Avon Foot Works Bonus Size Therapeutic Cracked Heel Relief Cream

Bonus Size Therapeutic Cracked Heel Relief Cream
Heals dry and cracked skin, fights infection. 24-hour moisturization. With soothing lidocaine. 2.53 fl. oz.
SAVE 66%!
price: $5.99
Now $1.99

This cream is truly one of the best available. Right now they are offering this larger size at a very low price. I stock up during these sales so that I can hold off on getting any more until they have the same sale again. This cream really does work wonders on dry and/or cracked heels. It works where other creams do very little. It is not greasy and is absorbed very easily. My heels are extremely dry and feel like sandpaper. It contains lidocaine which does seem to soothe the heels. They are not very soft with the cream but they are much softer than without the cream and definitely smoother. I don't think you can go wrong with this product and especially if you hit it during this sale which occurs several times a year. Also, remember -- check EBay.

Review - Saphoros Spa - Lueur Jeune Mineral Blush

Lueur Jeune™ Mineral Blush
Mineral Blushes that give that natural hint of color for a healthy, translucent glow. Specially blended for superior adhesion and long wear. You're sure to find a shade (or two) you love! Contains 10-20% Z-Cote Zinc Oxide. This shade: Serenity: Soft, light pink with very light coppery gold shimmer. Wonderful for fair and light complexions.
20 gram sifter jar (7 g net wt) - $16
10 gram sifter jar (3 g net wt) - $11
Sampler (1/8 tsp bagged) - $1.50

Once again I am loving mineral makeup. Not only is it good for your skin -- but it makes you skin look good or should I say better or best. I have actually invested in several shades of this blush. I choose according my tint according to how I am feeling each day. You really need just the tiniest dab of this blush and when you use the brush it truly blends in and looks like very natural color. You do not look like a clown with the red spots on your cheeks -- it just gives you the color you are looking for without looking overly done. You can actually use a light coat all over your face for a very slight tint that looks wonderful and healthy. The price is pretty reasonable and you cannot go wrong if you pick up a few samples first to see what complements your coloring the best.

Review - Shady Day Daily Sun Protection Wipes

Shady Day Daily Sun Protection Wipes provide a convenient mess free way to apply broad spectrum UV protection.

Hygienic pre-moistened sunscreen wipes are designed for the entire body with an absorbent formula leaving the skin feeling dry and smooth. Perfect for the whole family and people on the go!

Unlike sunscreen in a bottle, these wipes are not greasy and smell great. Sometimes it can take me 20 minutes to really rub in those greasy sunscreens at the beach, which isn't fun when the sand is sticking to every spot you're trying to rub in. I'm going to really love using these instead. The wipes are the perfect size to supply enough sunscreen for your entire body. And the cost isn't bad either (15 wipes for about $15). Probably the biggest bonuses for this product for me are that they won't explode in my beach bag like a bottle of sunscreen might, and they smell really great.

CitySlicker Says: I am in love with this concept. These are so EASY to use and super portable. I don't like carrying around sunscreen in my car or bag. They heat up and separate and I end up tossing them out. With this kind of application, I can toss a couple in my bag or glove compartment and not worry. I applied at home after showering and was very surprised at how quickly the sunscreen was absorbed & to boot no greasy after effects. No residue either!

Sheba says: What a convenience!!! It is such a clever idea and they work like a charm. As previously said -- you can toss a couple in your bag or car and you are set for the day. They are better and easier for applying the product than any of the regular packaging. The smell is clean and crisp. Sometimes you can get a heavy oily smell from sunscreens but this is completely opposite. The sunscreen is absorbed as you apply it and there is enough for you to coat yourself safely. It has to be mentioned again that there is no greasy or oily residue. They leave your skin feeling very clean -- but you know it is protected. The price for these is very fair for the protection and convenience.

Review: Danielle and Company Shea Butter Soap

Danielle's products are created as “eco chic”. They are modern in design and are made with the purest ingredients, many of them being organic and made with essential oils. Each product is formulated with a botanical oil base and is enhanced with rich shea butter, highly prized for its skin-moisturizing benefits. All of Danielle’s products are completely naked of fillers, preservatives, sulfates, petrochemicals, GMOs or parabens. They are 100% vegan and cruelty-free.

I like the unusual shape of this soap, as well as the benefit to skin of using shea butter on it. The lavender scent I tried is subtle and soothing. It also doesn’t seem to use up as fast as some soap bars do…which I appreciate. Who wants a high-quality soap to disappear almost as soon as you start to use it?

Amanda S. Says:

Like Joyce I love that this soap seems like it's going to last forever, and the shape is great to hold onto unlike the usual bars. I love love love that it is vegan and cruelty free also, as that's my JAM I must say. And Kudos to this company for going the extra mile to be nice to the animals. The scent I had was extra invigorating also: lavender and spearmint. I would really recommend this scent because the minty-ness of it is so subtle but tingly and really wakes up your skin, it also calmed down the hot-spots I get when my skin gets rather itchy.

Hillary Says:

The scent of my bar is “Fresh off the Line” and it smells just like freshly laundered clothes! I'm a huge fan of the smell of clean clothes (who isn't?) so this soap is right up my alley. Add to that the fact that this is a very moisturizing bar made with shea butter and glycerin and you've got one great bar of soap. I've said it before, soap to me is a four letter word, but with how moisturizing this soap is, I may have to change my tune.

Deedlejuse says:

I, like all of the above, love this soap. I agree with Joyce and Sheba about how cool the shape is. It is curved perfectly to fit around all of my curves. It is perfect for shaving, if you use a pouf it makes a great lather. It really does last forever, I have had mine in the shower for over two weeks now, and you would think it was opened yesterday! Even though it lasts you are totally aware of the soap spreading over your body. Personally, I am strange, I LOVE spicy herby soaps. Patchouli, sandalwood, clove, anything that isn't the normal flowery soap (these other soaps have a time and a place but in the morning there is nothing better than some spice) so I got the Classic Man's scent. It is delicious, zesty orange peel, eucalyptus leaves, and exotic spice it says. It just makes me smile. And believe me it would definitely be nice for your man to smell like this...

Sheba says: I have been using this Apricot Scrub off and on for a couple of weeks. It smells heavenly . . it is so sweet without being too sweet. It's shape enables you to hold it firmly. It lathers up wonderfully and it is so gentle on your skin that it is hard to imagine that it is a 'scrub'. I have used 'scrubs' that left my skin very red and sore. One of them was an Apricot scrub by another company so I was a little leery when selecting this. I was more than pleasantly surprised by the results after such a gentle scrub. My skin feels rejuvinated and it does remove the dead skin -- leaving the newer fresher skin. Some scrubs dry your skin as they exfoliate -- not this one. It leaves your skin very silky soft and moist. This is definitely a keeper. The company makes other scents which I am definitely going to try. I believe Almond will be my next one. You are bound to find a scent you enjoy and it will surround you as you scrub away. The cost is bit more than I like to spend for a bar of soap but it is a decent size and will last for a good amount of time. I think I might check into purchasing 2 or more bars at the same time to see how the shipping charges are then. Why pay shipping each time you buy a bar -- combining a few bars might be more expensive at the time but is usually less expensive than buying one at a time - several times. I need to see if my theory works on this. Also, I should mention - take a peek at the store locations (included on the web site). There just might be one in your vicinity which would save you any shipping cost.

CitySlicker Says: I have this in Ivy & Aloe. I find it to have fresh clean scent. It lathers up nicely with a bath pouf. I find that it's a little weaker without so I opt to use a pouf all the time. It does a great job of cleaning the bod. I too, love that is has shea butter within so it leaves my skin hydrated and soft. I am at the tail end of the bar.. My only suggestion is to remove from wet areas as mine did get soft and slimy, totally my own fault.. It is a bit pricy but had lasted a long time.. :)

Review - PSF Super Hydrating Eye Treatment

This luxurious cream eye treatment will help to minimize fine lines and wrinkles while diminishing under-eye puffiness and dark circles. Vitamins C, A, and E along with pycnogenols (OPC) from Grapeseed provide nature's most intense antioxidant protection against free radicals. Bio-liposome technology delivers vital moisture-trapping ceramides deep into the delicate tissue without irritation. Seaweed extract tones and tightens sagging skin, while Hyaluronic Acid plumps up fine lines and wrinkles. This eye treatment absorbs deep into the skin, and leaves the eye area feeling "rose-petal-soft" and hydrated all day long.

Here is a skincare line that is really, really worth your attention. I first learned about Pure Skin Formulations a few years ago when they were just starting out and MY how they've grown. Take a look at the ingredients in these top notch products - all actives. Barely (if any) unpronouncable words - just the good stuff, baby! This eye cream is no exception. It is all that it says it is and chock full of terrific ingredients. It keeps the area around my eyes hydrated without feeling greasy and there has never been any kind of averse reaction either. Luckily, I don't have dark circles so I can't speak for its effectiveness there, but this is by far one of my most cherished products in my arsenal. I will always be a repeat buyer, not only for their eyecream but for a bunch of other products they have as well. PSF has a great sample selection as well so you can try before you commit to the full sizes - but I can almost guarantee you will not be sorry purchasing from this truly terrific line.

Review - Suave 24 Hour Protection Anti-perspirant Deodorant Invisible Solid

Reduces underarm wetness. Suave works as well as more expensive brands for less.

I have used a lot of different types of deodorants and antiperspirants in the battle to keep dry, and clean. Not that I sweat more than most people, but I work in an environment where under-arm smells can be VERY disconcerting. This antiperspirant by Suave actually worked better for me than many other brands that I have tried, and it costs next to nothing! I have the powder scent, which I find quite neutral and not overpowering at all, which is key to deodorants for me. The last thing I want is my deodorant to be stronger than my perfume. One application in the morning and I am good to go all day long. The only time I re-apply is if I go to the gym in the evening, just to be safe! Don't let the price tag fool you, this is one of the best antiperspirant/ deodorants I have found!

Sheba says: I totally agree with everything Deedlejuse says -- this stuff is terrific. You cannot go wrong for the money. I prefer the unscented, myself, but I get the same results. This works as well as the much more expensive brands. I found myself doubting that something so reasonably priced could work as well as the more costly products. I decided to prove that it was worth the extra money to get the others and pleasantly surprised myself with the effectiveness. I do only need the one daily application except if I shower before going out for the evening and then another application will do the job. I pick the unscented to prevent a clash with any other scents I might decide to wear for the day. However, after reading her review I just might try the Powder scent as it is light enough not to overpower or mix with the cologne of the day. I am definitely sold on this Antipersperant/deodorant -- it works!!

Review - Burt's Bees Super Shiney Lip Gloss

Drench your lips in moisture and beautiful sheer color gloss. These hydrating natural lip glosses are flavored with citrus oils for a kiss of fresh-squeezed flavor. Choose from four juicy shades: Pucker Berry, Sweet Pink, Zesty Red and Nectar Nude.

Burt's Bees is such an awesome company, they believe in social and environmental responsibility, as well as a responsibility to put only the best and most natural ingredients in their products. While this is a fantastic and amazing quality, which every company should strive for, I find that some of their products feel almost "too" natural. You know what I'm talking about if you have ever tried their little pots of lip gloss that have been around forever. This Super Shiney Lip Gloss is so not that same super-waxy just too stiff lip gloss of the past. It goes on so smooth and gently and stays put for a long time. The best part is that although it is a beautiful lip tint with a nice shine (I'm not the kind of person who can handle full on lip stick) it really is moisturizing! It has a base of pure sweet almond oil which is awesome moisture. I have the Zesty Red color, I am a pale blond and I can wear it to work without looking over done. I haven't tried any of the other colors yet, but they all look really wearable to me!

Review - Rosie Jane Eye Hints

Rosie Jane Eye Hints are an easy to use tinted cream eye shadow made to enhance the look of youthful radiance.

I have the Buttercup Bronze color of this shadow. The container, first of all, is really secure and cute. it snaps shut definitively which may sound silly, unless like me you've had your eyeshadow or eyecream open up in your purse or make up bag and cause a huge disaster. The bronze color really offsets my very light blue eyes and goes great with my olive skin. I've used this both during work and out in the evening and have gotten compliments both times. The best part is, it's creamy and not powdery. It doesn't fall into creases or skip spots arbitrarily in your lids. It goes on smooth each time. Not necessarily a cheap date at $22, I imagine this shadow will last at least 6 months unless you're really overdoing it.

Review - Smith's Rosebud Salve

Rosebud Salve
This cult-favorite, multi-purpose lip balm soothes dry lips, calms and heals irritation, and soothes the sting of minor burns. Try dabbing on dry elbows or knees to condition, and relieve dryness. Also an excellent remedy for the treatment of diaper rash.

Honestly, I can't believe that no one has reviewed this awesome lip balm yet! This is probably the best lip balm I have ever had, it is so rich and thick. It doesn't taste very good, so you aren't licking your lips all the time, but it smells like roses. The smell is elegant and the sheen is delightful. This salve can be used on rashes and other chapped skin all over your body. It is in a very convenient little tin that really stays shut, so you don't have to worry about goo getting all over the inside of your bag. I would definitely say this is one of the most versatile fixatives I have found, it should be in everyones make-up bag.

Sheba says: You are so right about this lip balm. It begins to work almost immediately. I like the fact that it does not taste good -- it lasts longer with me not licking it off all the time. The scent is really beautiful without being overpowering. (I have had some lip balms that I could not wear -- your lips are so close to you nose and the balm just took over and I couldn't smell anything else.) Like Deedlejuse said it is as good on chapped areas. It healed my hands after putting wood in a fireplace resulting in very chapped and cracked skin. It is very small and can fit into your tiniest little bag so you can always have it with you without any problem.

Review - The Hottest Body By Victoria Active Body Lift Treatment

The ultimate solution for a supermodel-hot body. Fortified with our advanced Vitamatrix™ Body-Firming Complex and with clinically tested firming and contouring ingredients to reduce the appearance of cellulite and sculpt a sleeker silhouette. Visibly improves skin tone and elasticity, while moisturizing with a 24-hour hydration complex. Domestic.

This active body lift foam treatment says that it is supposed to enhance tone and elasticity, and be an effective moisturizer. Personally, I didn't really notice any wonderful effects from this weird smelling and feeling body treatment. My skin isn't loose, I'm 23, so I wasn't expecting to be blown over by the results, but I was expecting to notice a difference which I really didn't. Not only did the effects not amaze me, but the foam itself left me with a very odd feeling, like my skin was dirty and sticky. It didn't even moisturize my skin very well, I still needed to put lotion over it to feel moisturized. I have normal to dry skin so someone with oily skin might be happy with the moisture level. The smell was pretty strong and unattractive. I don't think I would ever buy this Active Body Treatment again.

Review - Jergen's Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer

Moisturize into a firming glow. Jergens® natural glow Firming Daily Moisturizer formula with collagen & elastin delivers clinically proven firming benefits to improve skin elasticity and a subtle skin darkening complex to create a natural-looking, summer color. Begin to see a firmer appearance after just 2 weeks of daily use.

Like most people I have been bundled up up in layers of fabric for the last 4 months, and no one has been able to see my super white legs, arms, and other places. In the winter it is acceptable (for me) to be ghost white, but the months of NO sunlight are almost over!!! In anticipation of the spring and summer, and with the assumption that I will soon be wearing things that will show my body again, I have started my Jergen's Natural Glow regimen. This lotion has been a staple for the last few years, because I like a little glow, but I will not allow the sun's rays to damage my skin. It is really pretty awesome. It will give you a glow after one use, but that glow gets better and sexier after at least 2 weeks of use. The lotion is supposed to actually firm up your skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite. For me, I didn't notice any intense firming, but it might have been slightly effective. I love the way I feel after a good slathering. It isn't like normal lotion, it feels like it is working, firming and leaving a film of protection. My only real complaint is that the smell is really strong. It definitely lets you know your wearing a strong scented lotion. It also sort of conflicted with my perfume. Not in a really bad way, I mean they combined to make something I didn't mind, but it was noticeable.

Review - Monyette Paris Perfume

This isn’t just sexy, it’s “big night out” sexy. It’s “reel him in” sexy. It’s amazing. Creamy and luscious, this bewitching scent combines voluptuous gardenia and island vanilla orchid, a sweet earthy vanilla. The result is an entrancing oil blend that melts into your skin and lasts for hours. Utterly addictive.

This Perfume is seriously delicious. It is a wonderful blast of sweet floral and beautiful vanillas. Nothing can really explain how lovely this scent is other than delicately feminine. It really evokes a feeling of a sexy Parisian evening. The scent is deep and rich and stays for hours and hours, and the intensity stays with it in a bold way. I finally got this perfume after hearing all of the rave reviews about it, and I will never be sorry. a little bit goes a long way, and the size is super easy! Really heavenly, and the guys certainly seem to like it too...

Review: Lip Ink Eye Restore Magic Powder Cream

A Magic Powder that transforms into a Cream on upon contact. Tension relief: Line prevention--a Lipo-dipepide Plant derived complex which promotes happiness and tranquilizes stressed skin to alleviate tension that contributes to the onset of expression lines and wrinkles around the eye and mouth areas.

This is one fun product. You sprinkle a little of the powder into your palm and rub your finger over it, and voila! It turns into a cream that you can use under eyes to smooth fine lines and brighten the area. But…it’s also for the fine lines around lips! And, it really does smooth out the little lines in this area. I've been using it there every day.

Review: Aromafloria Body Butter with Shea and Aloe

This revitalizing Body Butter stimulates the metabolism of the cells to visibly improve skin texture. 100% pure pomegranate detoxifies and imparts anti-aging benefits. Smooth onto dry, sun-parched skin for ultimate renewal.

This has a freshly-whipped butter texture that does a good job of moisturizing the skin without feeling heavy. It’s excellent to use before you climb into bed and in warmer months because of its lightness. I have silk sheets on my bed so am really careful about what goes onto my skin before I climb between them.

Movie Maven says:
I got this in the Mango Ginger scent, and I was hard-pressed not to bust out a spoon and take a bite of it, so heavenly was its scent. The rich, lush moisturizing of this butter is wonderful for feet and hands, especially before bedtime. The one count against it is the price: you can get a bigger container of a comparable product for a smaller price at The Body Shop. But if you're looking to branch out and try something new, it's worth a try.

You'll see and feel the difference with consistent use of any of our anti-aging skin care , natural baby skin care and mens skin care products.

I love how the Restore MSM Facial Cleanser smells and feels. Same for the O2 pH Balancing Spray that follows. I wash with the cleanser then wait a few seconds before using the spray. Then I wait about 30 seconds before I apply the Perfection-C Vitamin C Crème. The first time I used these products, I wasn’t sure what I thought. Women are funny that way. We tend to think a “miracle” is supposed to happen when we use something once. By the next day, though, I really did like that my skin looked and felt smoother. The fact that everything is organic is a plus, because I feel I’m treating my skin with kindness. I was also given the Moisture-Rich Body Lotion to try and like how quickly it goes onto and into the skin. When I use these products, I always feel I could eat them with a spoon because they smell quite scrumptious…especially the Vitamin C Crème (it’s like a desert)—though the scents are light rather than heavy. Don’t be surprised if someone moves in closer to take a whiff of you when you use this line. Hey, if someone thinks you smell edible, that’s a good thing, right?

Review - Sally Hansen Ultimate Shield Base & Top Coat

Use as a base coat to infuse nails with vitamins and moisture, and help stop brittle nails from breaking.
Use as a top coat to protect nail color from UV damage, keeping it fresh, bright and incredibly glossy.

Use as a base coat to infuse nails with vitamins and moisture, and help stop brittle nails from breaking. Use as a top coat to protect nail color from UV damage, keeping it fresh, bright and incredibly glossy.

I have always had this major problem where, when I paint my own nails, the polish/base coat invariably turns my nails yellow and I end up having to use whitener/bleaching/buffing the heck out of them to get them back to 'normal'. I actually went through a period where I felt FORCED to paint my nails because their color was so gross. But then I found this stuff about a year ago, and I use to religiously whenever I paint my nails (I even bring it with me if I am getting a manicure/Pedicure). It never causes any discoloration of my nails and makes the color last 2 times longer with way less chipping. And it's super cheap!

Review - Bath and Body Deep Cleansing Anti-Bacterial Hand Soap

Anti-Bacterial - Deep Cleansing Hand Soap - Coconut Lime Verbena
Cleansing beads and germ killers get dirty hands clean and leave skin lightly scented. Our Coconut Lime Verbena fragrance is a luscious blend of fresh coconut, lime and fragrant verbena, warmed by vanilla and musk. Domestic.
Triclosan kills germs
Vitamins B5 & E nourish skin
Gentle exfoliators cleanse deeply

SIZE: 8 fl. oz. $4.50 ea or 3 for $10 Anti-Bacterial

I do like this deep cleansing soap as it is not drying to your skin as a lot of anti-bacterial products seem to be. It comes in many different scents and if you do choose the 3 for $10 deal you can mix them up. Also, usually there are coupons available. Once you are on their mailing list you will get coupons fairly regularly. The soap does cleanse as promised and seems to exfoliate as they claim. Yet, it is still gentle as your hands will feel clean and smooth. I keep this one handy in the kitchen as I usually run there to wash my hands after patting or playing with my dog. They sell the hand and body lotions to match your choice of scent(s). Some scents are too flowery or smell like a fake of their name for me. However, there are many that are very true to their given scent. They have samples of just about every scent they offer so take advantage of that before you buy. Make sure it feels good to you and has a scent you really enjoy. Do not just trust the scent name to be what you want. . . try it.

Review - Shiseido - The Makeup Extra Length Mascara

The Makeup Extra Length Mascara Formulated with stay-put long lash fibers and fiber fix oil, this lengthening mascara extends lash length like never before. Fibers lock onto lashes easily and evenly from root to tip, so no more "split-ends" look! Waterproof, sweat-proof, and oil-proof.
Size: .22 oz $22.00

I love my other mascaras but this one is special. It adds such incredible length to your lashes. I usually reserve this one for evening and I might use a little extra for special effect. I do not go overboard as I think I would not be able to open my eyes with any longer lashes. They look spectacular with maybe 2 coats on. Actually, I use only one most of the time and my lashes look super with just the 1 coat. I would have thought that because it is waterproof, etc. that it would be difficult to remove. I find it very easy to take off with a sensitive soap and water. I do have eye makeup remover but have not found it necessary to use it as the soap and water does the job. It is a bit costly compared to my usual mascaras but it is worth it for the results and it lasts. I realize that for safety sake you are not supposed to keep mascara more than 6 months and I usually don't have to worry about it -- it is gone by then.

Sheba says: I have used pancake, mousse, liquid, powder -- you name any type of foundation -- I have tried it. Now my search is over. Mineral make up works just perfectly for my skin. First of all it is mineral and is actually good to your skin. It doesn't clog up your pores or cause dryness or oiliness. This particular brand is ideal for me. I love the fact that you can purchase samples before committing to the full size. I went directly from the sample to the full size. I had selected a couple of shades and at $1.50 each I lost nothing. They could be used alone or blended for a exact shade. I do use their concealers (which I have already reviewed) and this just goes over them. It covers without looking like it is covering. I have never experienced such a natural look with concealer and foundation. I just expected a powdery appearance as I always ended up with one. NOT SO with this product. It looks so natural while covering that I am amazed by it. It gives you an air brushed look as they describe it. The very first day I work it to work people commented on how "pretty" my face looked. I was taken back for a second as people don't usually just come out and say that. These were people I see every day. They admitted they could not put their finger on it but I looked better than usual. That completely sold me. I do not think you will be disappointed with this foundation.

Review - Lady Primrose Signature Crystal Nail File

Crystal nail file is the essential manicure tool for natural nails. Specially designed, ever-lasting abrasive surface can be washed, sanitized, or sterilized for repeated use. Crystal File prevents natural nail from splitting and peeling. $6

You may at first look at this file and think that it's a little lackluster in the abrasion department, and wouldn't work too well. But I've got news for you, it works great! I am sure many ladies and gents out there have issue with those sand papery or metal files causing nails to split between layers and break off in terrible little sheets and bits after polishing. This is something that happens to me almost any time I attempt to file my nails myself, and it drives me absolutely MAD. I used this file two times already, for shaping my nails before painting them. Both times it worked as quickly and accurately as a regular file, and I am happy to report that my nails, LITERALLY FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, did not split and crack within a few days of the filing. That said, if you suffer from this problem it's well worth the $6 to get this file and you'd be a fool not to give it a try!

Joyce says:
What a delightful idea! Who imagined a nail file could be pretty, as well as efficient. When I use it, I feel as though I’m grooming my nails without abusing them. My nails seem to agree.

Sheba says:
This file is not only very pretty, but appears to be delicate. I thought that something that looks like this cannot do the job. I was wrong!! This little file does a better job than any of my emery boards or nail files. I usually have to go over my nails after filing -- a second time with the gentler side of the file to smooth out all the rough edges I got while filing. This was just part of filing my nails. Well, it isn't any longer. This file does the filing without shredding the tips of the nails -- they are pretty well smooth right away. It does follow through with the claim to prevent splitting and peeling. Now I am thinking my emery boards and nail files might well have been the cause of some of my damage. I was thinking it was the nails, themselves. This file seems to prove my theory wrong. It has cut my filing time in half. . . and at the same time my nails look better groomed than ever. I have to say this file is worth the small investment as it works.

Hillary says:
How do I love this file? Let me count the ways! Actually, I love it for a two-fold reason: It's hearty enough to tackle the big jobs (like filing down a 1/4 inch of nail) and delicate enough to use for the little details. In my opinion, those are qualities that women are constantly looking for in nail files. To get them both in one file is a rare treat. To find them together for $6 even more rare. As an added bonus, it's obvious I'm going to have this file for quite some time as it's no transient nail file.

Deedlejuse says:
Personally, my nails hate me. I keep them quite short, and they really don't get the love they deserve. So I just can't compare this file to other ones, because I haven't really used anything other than those orange sticks that rip huge chunks of fingernail off in no time. This file is so different (from orange sticks) it is gentle and delicate. It gets the job done, and it will I'm sure be around forever even if you do use a file regularly. I guess my favorite part of the Lady Primrose nail file is that it is quite substantial, it makes the hold you can get on it better and I can't loose it in my huge beauty bag. Really how could you ask for more?

Review - elizabethW Bath & Shower Gel

Our selection of deliciously fragranced bath and shower gels from elizabethW is the perfect way to indulge your senses. Whether you want to lavish your skin in a luxurious, cleansing bubble bath or turn a normal shower into an aromatic retreat, these amazing products from elizabethW bring the spa experience into the comfort of home.

I received the Tuberose scent of this bath gel. It's so softly fragranced and gentle on the skin, I really love it. It reminds me a lot of this tuberose scented soap I used to be able to find at this health food store in Manhattan, but they have since stopped carrying it. I really love the scent. Check out the link (click the header) to see all the other lovely scents they have including Lilac, Rose & Sweet tea. I'm sure they are all as beautiful as the tuberose. The gel works really great, lathers well and feels very natural and non-drying. It also makes a great bubble bath!

Joyce says: The lavender scent I used is subtle, which I appreciate. I really don’t like to be overwhelmed by a fragrance. The pleasant surprise when I added it to my bath (it doubles as a bubble bath product) was it seemed to “soften” the water…very nice and unexpected. I wonder if they know their product does this. This is one product you can use for one of those candle-lit baths you take with your sweetie.

Hillary says: The scent I've got of this awesome bath (and shower) gel is Sweet Tea. Sweet is not the word! When I smelled it in the bottle I liked it but thought it was a little weak. When I got in the shower and started using it I was proven entirely wrong. It was just strong enough, and I still smell like Sweet Tea even though I've been out of the shower for 30 minutes. It's nice and hydrating too. I don't feel tight skinned in the least (and I'm the driest of the dry). I highly recommend both this shower gel & this particular scent!

Review - St. Ives Body Wash, Energizing Citrus

Revitalizing
Awakens your senses with an energizing citrus, mint and eucalyptus scent as it cleans, softens and smoothes skin.
Discover the Swiss Secrets for Soft, Smooth Skin.Over the centuries, the Swiss have developed and perfected their secrets for naturally beautiful skin. Only St. Ives captures these secrets in moisturizing body washes that indulge your senses with great fragrances as you cleanse. The luxurious lather gently yet thoroughly cleans, leaving skin soft and smooth. $3.79

This body wash does leave my skin feeling energized in addition to being clean and soft. I am a Citrus addict as far as scent goes and that may account for that feeling. It really does foam up nicely and you are enveloped in this wonderful citrusy fragrance. It is a very clean citrus scent unlike others I have tried that didn't have a genuine citrus aroma to them. It feels very silky as you lather up with it and leaves your skin with that silky feeling. The fragrance remains with you for a very brief time after you are finished -- but not long enough to interfere with any cologne, etc. you might use. The price is pretty reasonable and this product can be found in many locations at a sale or discount price in addition to this web site. The body wash comes in various other scents, some of which I have tried and enjoyed. However, I ended up with Citrus as my favorite.

Review - L'occitane Shea Butter Extra Gentle Soap

Generously sized for everyday use and the bath. Formulated with a 100% vegetable base and enriched with nourishing Shea Butter. L'Occitane works directly with women's Shea-processing collectives in western Africa, supporting economic recovery--and a heritage of natural harvesting traditions. Non-irritating; suitable for men, women and children. In a range of L'Occitane fragrances.

When using a good bar soap, especially one in the $10 per bar range, I find it difficult to notice a big between brands. But this soap really blew others I have tried out of the water
. L'Occitane definitely has a well respected product line for a reason. The soap I tried was the Lemon Verbena, they say on their site it is a best seller, and I can totally see why. The lemony goodness just smells so clean and fresh and invigorating but not over the top intense, just very natural and delicate. It foams up instantly with this thick creamy wonderful lather. It feels like the foam is just pouring moisture over your skin, when you use it in the shower or bath. The best part that I have noticed, however, is how gentle it is. My boyfriend has super sensitive skin, he gets rashes from some kinds of body washes so we have to be careful. We even get him special goats milk soaps because they are supposed to be the most gentle. This soap has had no ill effects on his super sensitive skin, and even seems to sort of heal things he hadn't even noticed were off-kilter. The moisture level is really impressive, and the bar seems to last forever. This really is just a wonderful soap.

Review - L'Occitane Aromachologie Dry & Damaged Hair Conditioner

L’Occitane’s blend of pure and natural angelica, lavender and geranium essential oils works to revive and refresh dry and damaged hair. Soothing, repairing and stimulating, this vegetable complex will detangle, soften and add luster to dry, damaged, color-treated or permed hair.

I recently received a sample of this magical conditioner. Now Generally speaking, my hair is too long, thick, and dry for a sample size to work at all. Usually I am just frustrated by the lack of effect afterwards and will often recondition just so that I can get a brush through. When I first squirted the conditioner out of the tiny sample package I knew things were going to be different. There might even be enough for 2 uses in the little .75oz container (I never thought I'd see the day).
This conditioner is sort of thin and oily feeling, which is probably all those yummy essential oils in there. The fact that it is relatively thin compared to other conditioners allows it to glide smoothly through the entire length and volume of hair. Just a wonderful silky smooth experience, and brushing was a breeze! My hair turned out beautifully shiny and lustrous after styling. The smell was very natural, sort green with notes of lavender and angelica which is one of my favorite smells.
All in all I have to buy this product, and like I said sample size conditioners never stimulate any kind of positive effect in me at all. It looks like it is pretty expensive; $17 for 8.4 oz. Judging from the itsy-bitsy amount it took to make my hair look like this I have a feeling that 8.4 oz will probably last me forever! I definitely recommend giving this a try, even if you can only get your hands on a sample, you will be amazed.

Review - Bath and Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Cream

This exotic fragrance is a sensuous blend of Japanese cherry blossom, vanilla rice, oriental woods and delicate mimosa petals. Fragrant, everyday body cream nourishes and softens even the driest skin.

Fragrance Top Notes: Asian Pear, Fuji Apple and Ume Plumb Fragrance Mid Notes: Japanese Cherry Blossom, Butterfly Lily, Kyoto Rose, Mimosa Petals and Hedione Fragrance Base Notes: Vanilla Rice, Imperial Amber, Silk Musk, Cinnamon Incense, Himalayan Cedarwood and creamy Sandalwood.

I really like the way that this body cream smells, and apparently so do many other people! Bath and Body Works is definitely highlighting it as one of their most popular scents, and I can see why! It is light and fruity with an irresistible oriental bottom note that definitely evokes a sense of the orient, without being too spicy. The cream itself is very thick, though not as thick as some other creams out there. It easily soaks into your skin after the shower and leaves you feeling well hydrated. I have dry skin on my legs and other parts and it is perfect! I think that it might be too much during the summer but for the dry winter months, I’m hooked; and it’s only $10.50 for 8 oz.

Amanda S. Says: I can't believe this lotion is only around $10, it's really probably the best scent Bath & Body Works has come up with since they've opened (and trust me, I'm constantly in their store checking out what they have). I mean, OK let's be honest here, a lot of times B&BW will have stuff that in concept seems like it'd smell great but on investigation (eg. smelling it) it's either overbearing, too candy-coated, too artificial or often just plain not what you expected. But this really is a great soft beautiful and PRETTY scent. Much more adult than their others and the scent lasts a lot longer.

Review - Crabtree & Evelyn Gardener's Hand Therapy Cream

After a long day of handling thorny situations, our gardeners hand therapy is just the help you need. Nutrient-rich shea butter helps nourish and condition work-roughened hands.
  • Shea butter rich formula
  • Soothes
  • Conditions
  • Restores softness
Scent: Fresh green clover, lavender, sage rosemary and thyme.

This is a great thick hand cream that does the job when I've been painting all day or working on a project that involves a lot of dirty hands and thus a lot of hand washing. It goes on pretty greasy but absorbs fairly fast and has a pleasant enough scent. What really makes this cream stand out though is the texture, it's super super thick but not in an unmanageable sense where you can't properly rub it into your skin, it's just got a great unique texture that I really like. It may be a little too over the top for every day use or having at your desk/in your purse, but if you're working outside or washing your hands a lot, this definitely re hydrates the skin and makes it look fresh and soft.

City Slicker Says:

I too believe this is a great hand cream. When I use it, it really feel like it's coating my hands without feeling like they are coated. It's grease less and lasts.. When washing you can see the water bead of the skin but once the soap hits it, it quickly rinses away. I find the scent to be earthy and light. A friend got this for me almost a year ago and I still have a lot left, this is the kind of cream that a little goes far and you won't need to reapply as often as most.. I work with a lot of paper and my hands are always dry.. This is a product that when I apply regularly makes a significant difference. I think that usage is the key and I tend to be a slacker. Also I want to mention that it absorbs quickly so you can get back to doing whatever was on the agenda!

Hillary says:

I'm a little torn on this hand cream. On the one hand, it is a great, super softening hand cream. On the other hand, you have to be very cautious to use it sparingly or else you won't be able to turn a doorknob! I like this cream for night as it does leave my hands silky smooth, but I'm not such a fan for daytime use.

Sheba says:

This is one powerful hand cream and it works wonders. Yes, it is a bit thick but not so thick as to be a problem. You just need a tiny dab and it absorbs into your skin so fast. You will be amazed at how soft and silky even the driest hands feel once it is applied and used for a little while. Actually as soon as you apply it your hands feel the difference. Because you need so little you will have this cream for the longest time so you won't have to buy more that often. It is definitely one of the best for hard working hands. I have had some very good luck finding this on EBay at excellent prices. As of today, 12/18, there is a 20% off sale at the website above. Have no idea how long it lasts but worth it to check it out. First check EBay.

Movie Maven says:

Part of my attraction to this hand cream is the packaging - I know, I know, that's not the thing by which you're supposed to judge products (or books, as the saying goes), but it's just so quirky and cute! The little old-fashioned metal tube just makes me happy. I have to concur with Hillary on this one - the first time I used it, I accidentally squeezed out FAR too much and was frantically searching for someone I could share with! But once I got the hang of it, this cream was lovely. The scent is surprisingly pungent, though - I used it in a car and the other passengers all immediately smelled it. It's not a bad smell (a sweet herbal blend), but it gets right in your nose right away! So perhaps forewarn any other passengers that you'll be using it.

Deedeljuse Says:

Can we say LOVE! I am a huge fan of the all natural, and while I am not positive that this hand cream completely fits the bill, I am positive that I love it enough to let minor infractions slide.... As all of the above have mentioned this is a super thick, rich, lover-ly cream that leaves the hands super moisturized and happy. The packaging is so easy to use, and I have never had the problem of squeezing too much out. Why do so many creams think that pumps are a good idea? I will never know. What I do know is that I adore the smell of this hand cream. It is generally deliciously green and fresh just like a garden should smell. Wonderful, oh and the hand soap is pretty delectable too.... All for another time.

Quench Therapy Repair Concentrate is formulated with potent emollients and a concentrates Amino-Vitamin Complex to moisturize the roughest patches of skin. Ideally suited for use on the knees, heels, and elbows.
Our Price: $7.49 Sale Price: $6.36

Olay products seem to agree with me. This cream does moisturize and repair especially dry areas. It blends in very well with no greasy residue. Your skin feels soft and silky, even in the elbow and knee areas. My heels are a bit resistant to remaining soft. However, they do feel much smoother after applying this product. You can find Olay almost anywhere and just look for the good deal. This is on sale presently at this web site and if you go on a spending frenzy ($50) there is free shipping. Also, you'll see a $3 off deal with a $10 purchase. If you have one of these stores in your area they have the same coupons.

Review - Aromafloria Warming Sugar Polish

The pure ginger oil in this Warming Sugar Polish increases circulation when applied to the skin, while organic sugarcane, fresh mango and seaweed hydrate and pamper your body and mind. Preservative free. 97% certified organic.

I have been dying dying dying to try this polishing scrub since I received it. It looks absolutely delicious! It's creamy and golden in color (The scent is mango ginger) and when you open the big jar, it smells DELICIOUS! If I wasn't quite right in the head today, and sometimes I'm not, I might grab a spoon and try to eat this. But instead, I did the only thing a girl can really do, I cut out early on my plans and came home specifically to take a shower and use this. All I can say is WOW. I have these annoying little bumps on the back of my arms as well as on the back of my thighs. I have tried to loofah, scrub, washcloth and exfoliate this stuff with creams to no avail. I am sure many of us, both men and women, are annoyed by these little bumps. Well, let me tell you, after one thorough scrubbing with this delectable concoction and there is a hugely marked difference in the softness and texture of those areas. All the alligatorish skin on my shins and ankles is completely gone too! I am truly in love with this stuff, I just wish it came in ten gallon drums so I could be sure to always have an enormous supply on hand.
As as added note, this would make a great gift. Although many people loathe to receive another body wash/body lotion combo gift set, no one in their right mind is going to complain about receiving this!

Review - Nina Ricci L'AIR DU TEMPS perfume

FRAGRANCE NOTES - a rich floral of gardenia and jasmine, with tones of sandalwood and iris, a romantic aroma.
Scent strength: subtlescent life: 6-10 hours Recommended use: casual
Recommended age: perfect for anyone
Our Price:$24.79
Retail Price:$32.00

This is a light scent that has had many people ask me what I was wearing. Thank goodness they said they liked it. It would have been embarassing if someone said -- thanks, I know not to ever get that scent!! Happily it has been positive feedback. I am a person who just likes a light scent - I actually feel uncomfortable when I have tested a scent and it was strong. I usually will have to get myself to soap and water fast to take it off. Nina Ricci has many other products and scents and any I have tried have been excellent. However, this is my personal favorite. I use it for day or evening. My preference is for the Eau de Toilette and the cost at this site is not too bad. You can usually find this at a discounted price. I don't think I have ever paid the full retail price -- so it does pay to shop around.

Review - The Balm Shady Lady Eye Shadow

These va-va-voom shadows are designed to illuminate your eye color, and put you in the spotlight! Formulated with finely milled pigments and specially pressed, these shadows glide on smooth and stay on strong. Whether you're feeling the innocent ingénue or the femme fatale, there's a Shady Lady calling your name!

I have the "Shameless Shana Tahitian Bronze" color of this eye shadow. What a cute little compact this thing is. Seriously! it comes with a LOT of shadow also, a big round palate of it. It's well worth the bucks spent because it will last forever, just for the huge amount they give you. Also, it has a cute little mirror built into the magnetic flip top! and it's a really good mirror too and so useful.
Me, I have pale blue eyes, jet black hair and olive skin, so this dark brown/bronze color goes great with my eyes and skin. I would recommend it for anyone with darker hair that wants to play up their eyes. The Shadow goes on smooth without clumping or settling into creases, and has a soft shimmer that is delicate and not totally overstated.

Joyce says:

The shade I tried is Luscious Lani, which plays up my hazel eye color. It’s a sort of silvery-beige-peach and really brightens my eye area. In fact, I use it to cover (highlight) the shadowy area near my nose, as well as across my entire eyelid. I applied it with a brush and with my finger and prefer my finger. The texture is quite silky so it goes on easily and evenly. This particular color is great by itself or as a base for additional shades. But when you’re in the mood for a natural look, this one is perfect.

CitySlicker Says:

The color I received is called Sexy Stacy, it’s described as shimmery pewter.. It’s smooth & delicate shadow that doesn’t go on thick. I found it easy to work with. It’s got nice stay ability and lasted throughout my work day. For day I applied as a liner very close to the last line then feathered it out for evening & added a little more to increase the intensity. If you like the dark smoky eyes, this is a great choice. It’s deceivingly dark in the container; I was surprised that it wasn’t black upon application. It truly is a pewter & when feathered is quite light and airy looking. This is a lot of shadow for the money & I love the cardboard container that can be recycled when done!

Deedlejuse Says:

Unfortunately, I really don't like my color of this super-wearable eyeshadow. The Kinky Katie, is just not good for my skin tone. It is basically beige, with just a little bit too much orange for it to look really nice on my skin. It wears incredibly, though, so it is upsetting that I don't love the color! It stays for hours and doesn't wear off or crack. I have been applying it very lightly just below the brow with my big blush brush, and that looks very nice. I totally agree with Cityslicker about how cool the cardboard container is. Love it!

Review - Victoria's Secret Appletini Body Drink Lotion

Beauty Rush™Body Drink Lotion in Appletini $12 or 2/$18
Quench dry skin with this sexy moisture boost. Natural skin conditioners drench skin in rich moisture, leaving it supersoft, smooth and deliciously scented. Domestic

CitySlicker Says:

The scent is delicious! I love it, it's crisp, apple-EE and clean. It's so refreshing! I got this along with the other Vickies review below, I don't wear these together, in fear of a sensory overload.. I use this right after the shower. It absorbs pretty quickly so I can get dressed so I like that. The scent really carries on my skin throughout most of the day without being overwhelming. If you like apples then you will like this invigorating, sharp scent! I love it and will totally re buy!

Review - Victoria's Secret Love Spell Refreshing Body Mist

Secret Garden Collection Refreshing Body Mist, $9.00
Our single best-selling item. Invigorating and calming all at once, this delightfully fragrant mist is formulated with moisturizing aloe and soothing chamomile to leave skin supersoft.

CitySlicker Says:
I haven't worn any body mists from Vickies in years but recently got a gift that included this sumptuous scent.. It's the perfect sweet, happy concoction. It can be overwhelming if I am heavy handed but 3 spritzes on the bod after bathing does my body good. There is an initial alcohol smell that is quickly gone once it dries down on my skin. I think this is a youthful fun scent that takes me back to simpler days. I like it and would be interested in checking out some of the other products in the same scent..

Review - Nicel Daily Repair Vitamin A Retinol Cream

Daily Repair vitamin A retinol cream smooths facial lines and corrects uneven tone and skin imperfections. Use day or night. This versatile around the clock moisture lock nourishes and softens skin to help prevent future damage $3.79

Their web site announces "Nicel Department Store Quality Skincare products at Amazingly Affordable Prices". Actually I do find this product to be very effective in moisturizing while at the same time diminishing the appearance of fine lines. My skin does feel and appear smoother when I use it. I found this in a Supermarket in the cosmetic aisle. One never knows when you can run into a good deal. For some unknown reason this cream was on sale for $.99 -- that's right. I had never heard of them but thought I can afford to loose a buck if it is useless. It was a real pleasant surprise to have the cream actually work and work well. I went back and scooped up about 3 more of them. It is lucky I did as they never had them again. I think they were pulling in a new brand and had to make room so this went. Luckily I discovered it before it disappeared. Even at the actual price of $3.79 it is a real bargain. It is a reasonable investment considering that it does contain Vitamin A Retinol. It might be just a speck but it is in there.

Price Varies from location to location

My hair has been fine and thin forever. I will try anything to actually get some body into it. A friend who is a hairstylist had me try Nexxus and I really liked that. . . especially when she got me her discount. However, she said to try Pantene. She found that some of the less expensive brands actually did as well as, or even better than the top of the line brands. I remember an expert on beauty products comparing expensive versus cheaper versions on a television show. She actually raved about Pantene and said it is definitely comparable to the high end products. Actually I have found that to be true in my use. My hair does seem to have added body as it did with the Nexxus and other top brands. It feels soft and clean -- yet does have a feel of being a bit thicker. I have ended up tossing volumizing gels in other brands after a few uses as they were too heavy for my hair and flattened it. Others gave me that "greaser" look which is not what I am trying for. I find the Pantene leaves the hair feeling clean and not coated as I have experienced. This does add some volume and I will take whatever I can get. I shop around for it as it goes on sale at the many stores that carry it. You can always find a sale so why pay full price??? I keep an extra on hand so that I won't run out while waiting for a sale. Actually the regular price is not that high anyway if I really get stuck and need it. In addition to the body I gain from it -- I find that my hair does hold the style better with it.
