Review - Kinerase Intensive Eye Cream

0.7 oz. (20 g) $59.00
Kinerase Intensive Eye Cream is a highly emollient cream that adds moisture to the delicate skin around the eyes. Since it contains kinetin, which has been shown to improve the signs of skin aging, you will be seeing younger looking skin in just a few weeks. Use P.M. and alternate with Under Eye Rescue in the A.M., or apply twice daily.

CitySlicker Says:

This is a no-nonsense eye cream; it's not super expensive. I like it for many reasons. It's got no scent, so that is wonderful - I don't want to be perfumy so close to my eyes. Also it's thick and rich and really feels good around the eye area. It's not greasy at all, but I find that the formula is a little thicker that some other creams - it feels almost like I am coating the eye area. I am all about coating. It's a good thing, too: with all the elements, I want all the help I can get! I apply this to freshly cleaned skin and I am ready for the day. I find that my makeup stays in place, doesn't ride in the fine lines and the cream keeps the eye area in great shape all day. I am very happy with my results. I also love to use a tad on my lips, it's a nice foundation for a matte lippy!

Review: Linea Pro C2 Flat Iron

C2 DIGITAL, SKULLS $199.00
The new C2 technology is exclusively found with Linea-Pro. The C2 is going to be a flat iron that once again leads the market with innovation in style and technology. The C2 uses pure titanium plates so that negative Ions and Far infrared heat can be produced in abundance. In fact, the C2 produces 30% more of these two essential ingredients than any other flat iron using ceramic. The mass mixture of negative ions and far infrared heat then suspend them selves over the actual surface of the plate like an invisible coating. When passed through the hair this invisible layer never breaks up, discharging a huge amount of these two essential particles/ elements directly into the hair shaft. This helps to lock in moisture and increase the ionic effect like no other flat iron. The new patented heat expansion technology is only found in the Linea-Pro C2 range and ensures perfect flat plate alignment when hot. The lightness and handling of this iron is amazing once you use a C2 there is no comparison. The pure Titanium plates in the C2 have been made longer than any thing on the market. The stylist can now work with bigger sections of hair, cutting usage time down to a minimum.

CitySlicker Says:
Come on...can a flat iron get more Rock & Roll than this? I don't think so! I have been using this since the summer and love it. I am a huge fan, not for the look of the iron, but for the amazing results I get. I have fine hair that was past my shoulders, but now looking more like a Katie Holmes 'do and I am loving using it on both lengths. It's so easy to use and it's cool having the temp control on the cord. I just clip it to my sleeve and I never have a mishap. It gets really hot so beware. The finished results are paper straight hair or flippy. I can get a serious curl too. It's super versatile. I have had no problem cleaning it either - hair products tend to build up over prolonged periods of use, so I turn it on, heat it up on the lowest temp and use a damp cloth and it pretty much melts away. I know it's expensive but it's an investment. I stack this up to your T3's, Chi's, babybliss, you name it! Linea-Pro is worth it and edgy and fun to boot. I am dying to try the hairdryers - they are equally cool and probably rock the 'do dry in no time. I haven't see them online but I have seen them at shows. One more thing: I think the key to perfection is to part your hair into tiny sections.

Review - Dr. Alkaitis Organic Nourishing Treatment Oil

Organic Nourishing Treatment Oil 4oz:: $60.00 Lasts two months

Stimulates skin functions, necessary for its elastic retention. Moisturizes and quickly absorbs into the skin. A must for after bath or shower. A great massage oil! Excellent for face, scalp, hair and cuticles.
CitySlicker Says:
This is a wonderful product and great line. When I dispensed the first drop, I was a little scared off - its bright orangey color reminded me of the color of butter from theaters. It does have an organicy earthy scent that I find to be calming and don't mind it one bit. I like to use this product after using a peel or a misrodermabrasion scrub, but also like it as a moisturizer. I find that 2 drops works wonders on my face. I apply this, then sunscreen and I am ready to go. I also use a few extra drops in the evening to give my face a deep boost of hydration. A couple of drops in the AM and it quickly absorbs into my thirsty skin and no greasy look is left behind. It gives my skin the foundation for makeup. At night the few extras do make my skin look oily but I am used to it and wake to find it all absorbed. I don't use so much that I am leaving my pillows stained. This product really lasts - you can hold onto it for some time. I think the results for my face have been wonderful: a nice moisturized face, clean, not oily and never any discomfort. There are many uses I haven't tried but I am going to be testing this out on my cuticles.

Review- Ocean Actives Topical Deep Water Squalane Skin Moisturizer

Ocean Actives Topical Deep Water Squalane, a highly-concentrated moisturizer, soothes and nourishes your skin.
This all-natural Deep Sea Secret:
~Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
~Smoothes and softens the texture of your skin
~Hydrates and soothes dry, rough skin

First, it’s pronounced squa-lon (and is the same ingredient found in our built-in skin regenerator), but I think it should be called liquid silk. When I first squirted a few drops onto my palm, I thought, “Hmmm…it really is an oil. How’s that going to work with my mineral powders and my silk pillow cases?” I didn’t have to worry. Not only is it silky, it’s like air. My skin didn’t drink it in as much as it seemed to breathe it in, and loved it. I’d ordered the one scented with real lavender, so got two skin soothers in one. After a few days (and nights), I noticed my skin was definitely smoother and brighter. Those little lines were getting less noticeable by the day. I started using it on my neck, décolletage, and hands…sometimes my arms. I put some on my face while a guy was “visiting” and asked him if he wanted to try some on his face. He said, “No, but you could give me a massage with it.” I Don’t Think So.

I order from Dr. Susan Lark’s website.
One of her ads said the 2oz. bottle would last for a month. My bottle lasted for almost four months, which to me was nothing short of a miracle (the guy, however, was gone after the second date).

A 2oz. bottle costs $34.99, but she offers a discount shipping plan and usually runs a special for three bottles at a nice savings. If one bottle lasted nearly four months for me, three would almost cover a year. Where’s my debit card?!

CitySlicker Says:

I had to try this out a couple of years ago when I saw that Tyra Banks loves this. Since she claims to be CHEAP, I wanted to see what she endorsed as being worth the cake. I had never used a cleansing oil and was reluctant for obvious reasons: wouldn't my skin get oily? Tyra's skin always looks great, so I jumped and bought the small bottle. To my amazement, it does a wonderful job of removing makeup and dirt but doesn't in leave me oily or greasy. It's so easy to use and has a nice fresh scent. I apply onto dry skin, rub around and loosen everything, then rinse. It not only removes all the impurities of the day, but leaves behind moisture. I use different products every day. I am always changing and adding things in. I use this about twice a week. It's a wonderful year-round cleanser that really works - you will be amazed when you see how it melts away mascara!

A+

Review - Prada Shielding Balm

As seen in Allure magazine (May 2006 issue, p250).After many requests, Prada created a tinted version of its best-selling Shielding Balm SPF 15/Lip/Tint. The new formula is available in five tints.

FOR: Dry, chapped, uncomfortable lips.FUNDAMENTALS:• Protects against chapping, cracking, sun, and pollution.• Leaves lips looking plump with a new longwearing buffed finish.• Sun protectors UVA and UVB filter out environmental damage.• Antioxidant vitamin E and panthenol provide high-tech protection, helping to heal lips and restore a balanced moisture level for softness and conditioning.• The sheer, moisturizing balm is rich with shea butter, which provides innovative treatment benefits and enhances the natural tone of lips. $38.00

CitySlicker Says:

Do I love this because it is made by Prada? I am sure that is part of it but this balm stands on its own - it could be made by Blistex and I would adore it. I have been using this for a few years. I started off with the plain untinted version then moved over to the tinted. I find that this balm coats my lips without making them look greasy or feel like I have anything on. I do notice that it helps with keeping my lipstick on longer. I apply this every morning before adding anything else and it truly is a tiny gem. I also love the fact that since it's expensive they package them into little tubes I toss in my purse, so if I lose it then I know I am only out of a week's worth of product instead of the whole enchilada. This is wornderful for the winter. I use this for cross country skiing and I never get wind burned or chapped lips. I don't slather this on in the evening. I just can't afford to do it - I would run through the entire box in a couple weeks! You will definitely see a transformation within a few weeks of using this product. Also I love to give this as a gift - it's something everyone uses but won't always spend the cake on! Enjoy. Ooo, yeah...I love the Nude Rose, it's a taupe pink that is neutral that can be covered up or worn alone.

Review: 100% Pure Fuji Apple Body Scrub

CitySlicker Says:

The scent, the scent, the scent! It's a light, crisp apple scent that isn't sickeningly sweet or candy-like. The scrub is light but effective. I can go to town on my legs and never get red or blotchy. The results are amazing. I find that the scrub leaves behind an almost waterproof barrier, locking in moisture. I can even see the water beading off of my stems when I rinse away. This scrub is based with grapeseed oil so that is what it leaves behind. The winter is very drying for me and on the days I use this, I don't have to follow up with a moisturizer. I am hydrated all day. Also, this is great to use before shaving, since it really helps get the hair standing up and ready to remove. There isn't much scent left on my skin once I rinse - the important thing is my body is smooth, soft and feels hydrated. YEAH! Fab product!

Review- Suki Lemongrass Cleanser

The key ingredient for clear, healthy skin. Our gentle exfoliate increases cell turnover & unlike damaging glycolics, utilizes natural, safe aha's & bha's, awakening a fresh, new layer of skin safely & gently. Clears & evens skin tone. This product is vegan. $24.50 Cityslicker Says:
If you like the smell of citrus, you will instantly be hooked on this cleanser. It's a crisp, natural, mouthwatering zesty lemon scent. I love it. The second I open the container, the fresh scent erupts. I thought that being lemony, it would dry out my skin but this is not the case - I am on my second jar. This isn't a scrub for the faint at heart, it's a robust scrub that offers deep exfoliation. I use this only about once a week, it's all I need and it really helps me shed the skin that is ready to go. I do notice that my face gets pink after using it; it can be a deeper pink if I really scrub, so I do it at night. The next morning, my skin looks bright and fresh. I am sensitive and I can use it, but I am sure I couldn't use it on a daily basis. Also when you apply, it works up into a nice froth so it's fun to use. This is the only item I have tried from Suki. I look forward to checking out Suki's color line. So if you are in the market for a scrub with a boost, this is for you. The scent reminds me of a freshly cut lemon...YUMMMMM!

Review: Serge Luten's Compact Foundation

Serge Lutens Compact Foundation$160.00
Refillable compact foundation provides a smooth and flawless finish for all seasons. Dry application only. Uses new Shiseido dispersion technology: an extremely light fine and light powder for excellent elasticity, extreme softness and light diffusion.

City Slicker Says:

This pretty much my holy grail of foundation. I love it. I am into a light coverage that evens me out and leaves my skin looking natural. I can describe it like Vincent Longo's Water Canvas - it's a water based foundation that feels cool to the touch and melts into the skin so the application is seamless. The finish is natural also. I got sucked into this line when hitting Barney's for one of the beauty events. I allowed the rep to apply and instantly was sold then asked the price. YIKES! I have been a faithful fan of the line since 2005. I am not faithful to this foundation though; I do use others too, but keep this in the arsenal. The nice thing is that the compact is refillable and the refills are $70.00. I find this has little to no scent and works well with my sensitive skin, it's so light that it's like a mineral foundation without the talc. This comes with a sponge applicator but I don't use it, I am a brush girl and this goes on just as well with a brush as it does with a sponge and the brush is easier to clean, in my opinion. The color match is dead on for me also. Enjoy!

Review: Tree Hut Coconut Lime Shaving Cream

Coconut Lime Shaving Cream
Tree Hut Shaving Cream made with coconut oil and lime extracts using a pure Shea Butter formula is rejuvenating and refreshing. The Shea Butter protects your skin by moisturizing it before you shave with a razor.

Cityslicker Says:
After reading Deedlejuse's review, I thought I would shave my thoughts and opinion of their shaving cream. I am not a shaving cream only kind of girl, I will use shower gel too. Sometimes I am in a rush, so turning for a second product is too much work. When I have the time, I totally love shaving cream and this has a yummy tropical yet crisp scent. I love the warm body of the coconut mixed with the crisp citrus; these are both true scents, not perfumy smelling. The cream squeezes out and I find is best applied to a wet area, free from the stream of the shower. This cream provides a nice base to shave with and makes for snag free shaving for me. It smells great in the shower but I don't notice the scent transcending to my body once rinsed. When I am done this cream leaves the shaved areas smooth and soft-feeling, a great line and great prices!!

Review: NIA 24 Sun Damage Prevention SPF 30

Physician recommended duo-action sun damage prevention and 100% mineral sunscreen in a weightless, oil-free lotion that absorbs instantly for complete protection. Suitable for sensitive skin.
-Continuous, deep delivery of Pro-Niacin strengthens the skin¡Çs barrier. -Pro-Niacin is clinically shown to visibly improve skin toner, texture and hyperpigmentation. -Advanced, broad spectrum protection from UVA/UVB ultra violet rays. -100% physical sunscreen with the mineral protection of micronized Titanium Dioxide and micronized Zinc Oxide. -Vitamin E helps repair and protect skin. -Alpha Bisabolol soothes and hydrates. -Suitable for sensitive skin.(100ml)

Cityslicker Says:
Here is my holy grail of sunscreen! I used to use Skinceuticals and loved that till I had the chance to try NIA 24's. I love it and so does my face. I was used to the spf 45, but have been doing really well with spf 30. This goes on and initially feels greasy but it absorbs into the skin and feels weightless. It's amazing. It is very hard to use an spf then put makeup on over it...well, this has been my savior. I am on my 2nd tube and still loving it, it carried me through the summer. It's easy to reapply and isn't perfect at going over makeup but isn't terrible either. With the Skinceuticals, I couldn't ever do that. This has no scent and is wonderful with my sensitive skin. I love it and would pay double if I had to. I haven't ventured into trying anything else from the line. You will be amazed that it almost settles into the skin and feels powdery. Amazing. I am a huge spf lover and don't go out without it. Rain, sun, snow, you name it and I am still protected. I do my part in protecting myself.

Review: 3lab Perfecting Balancing Toner

3lab - Perfect Balancing Toner $65.00
It helps cleanse, provides skin with a more effective hydrator, therefore increasing moisturization and stimulates circulation of the skin.
Cityslicker Says:
I am not sure if this is my favorite toner or runner up. I use this and Awakes faithfully. I never really thought much about toners till I reviewed one and noticed just what it pulls off of my skin. It's an amazing boost to add a little hydration and pulls away excess oil and dirt that cleansers, scrubs and peels don't. I find the 3lab to have a very faint scent that I can't smell after sweeping over my face. I apply this twice a day, morning and evening. I use a cotton ball and I don't know if I am a grease factory, if it's the environment, or if the products I use that deposit on my skin and don't come off unless I use a toner. This product can really last also. I find that I don't have to immerse the cotton ball in toner; I need just enough to go over everything once. The proof is in the pudding, baby, and what comes off on the ball would knock you over. It's not bad every day, so I must produce more oil and absorb more dirt on different days. The result is a very soft face that isn't tight or tingly, just ready for some moisture. I really believe that even though I use a mineral based sunscreen, I think it is the culprit that leaves all the gunk behind. I love this product so even if this isn't in your price range, I highly recommend trying a toner for a couple of weeks and see if you notice a difference, even my makeup stays on differently. I don't travel with this, so that is when I notice the biggest difference!

Review: TheBalm's Hot Mama

TheBalm's Hot Mama $18.00
What it is:A true all-in-one essential: sexy shadow, striking blush, subtle highlighter, and light-reflecting lip finisher tucked inside a go-anywhere compact. What it is formulated to do:The pinky-peach hue adds a splash of color to cheeks, a hint of shimmer to the lids, and illuminates your finest features.

Cityslicker Says:
This has been the best winter pick me up. When I got this I was hesitant to try it, since it's really peachy and luminescent, so I was thinking I was going to look overly glossy. I apply this when I am down with everything else and it really gives me a healthy glow. It's perfect for very pale skin too. I am pretty darn fair. I use a full brush to apply, I sweep over the Hot Mama then tap and lightly apply to my forehead and bring down to my cheeks. I find that it looks pretty natural without looking like I am glowing from outer space, some babes don't know when enough is enough and in the Hot Mama case, you can go overboard and if/when I do I just gently wipe away.. If I am heading out for the night, I add a little more so I have a richer glow too. There is no scent to the product and I haven't had any adverse reaction. This is well worth the $$ too since so little goes so far! Thumbs up!

Review - Paul Mitchell The Rinse Lightweight Conditioner

  • Wheat-derived conditioners provide excellent wet and dry detangling with a soft silky feel
  • Essential amino acids and vegetable-derived conditioners provide hydration without added weight
  • Special conditioning agents help reduce static fly-away

  • Sometimes you're in a good hair phase when it seems like your 'do can do no wrong, it's not dry and covered in split ends, it's not greasy beyond repair, it's not a tangled crinkly over processed mess, it is just doing alright. That is when I would love to use this conditioner, it doesn't *add* anything that isn't required when you're hair is doing ok (and I'm lucky, my hair has been ok this week!) and it won't weigh you down or make you feel gunky when you don't need the extra moisturizer. My hair felt soft and silky after using this conditioner a few times and didn't end up heavy or overburdened with fragrance or added moisturizers. I would definitely recommend this for the fine haired folks out there that need conditioning but can't have the greasifying effects of heavy duty conditioners.

Review: Tree Hut Shea Body Butter

Tree Hut Shea Body Butter is 7 ounces of natural, non-greasy goodness! Give your skin the softness it deserves without having to visit a day spa. Our Shea Butter is formula is a fast-absorbing, ultra-moisturizing skin softener and a must-have everyday pleasure. Feel the lasting softness all day long in up to four unique scented fragrenes.
An intense moisturizer containing almond oil and sweet honey blended with our ultra-moisturizing Shea Butter formula. It absorbes quickly and makes you smell wonderful all day long.

Tree Hut is sort of a fun company, it says that it is the first to bring Shea Butter into beauty care products. I don't know if that is actually true, but they make a really nice body butter. It is super thick and creamy, so I use it just before bed so that it has a long time to soak in. I have the almond & honey scent, which I think is a touch strong, but it fades after a few minutes so it isn't too overpowering. It is especially nice on really rough areas that need a lot of moisture like elbows and heels. It is available in most drug stores and I even saw it in the grocery store the other day!

    Review- Nars Bronzing Powder

Diffused powder with golden shimmer to create an all-over warmth and contour for the entire face. Will create a natural looking glow and enhance the look of tanned skin.

Bronzing powder is, for me (I have very a light complexion w/blond hair) a very difficult thing to use. It is usually either too dark or too heavy. This bronzing powder is very nice, I have the Laguna shade and it is thick enough that not too much comes up on the brush and matte so it just leaves the faintest impression of being out in the sun for an afternoon. I usually use it on top of my tinted moisturizer so that I don't look too powdery. My skin is on the dry side so I have to be careful not to look dried out by a lot of cover-up. It is expensive ($28 for .28oz) but I have had it for 10 months and I don't use it every day but I haven't even made a dent yet!

    Review: Steven Victor's Miracle Serum

Steven Victor MD Miracle Serum .5 oz $150.00
Revs up skin's crucial lipid barrier and increases essential hydration by significantly escalating ceramide levels that have depleted with time. These aren't your average ceramides, these lipids mimic skins own natural hydration system and increases moisture retention by 90%. Enhanced moisture means skin looks and feels more supple and smooth with improved radiance and fewer signs of fine lines and wrinkles.
Can be used anytime for moisture touch up
Ideal for lines around the eyes or mouth

    Review:

This is AMAZING. I have been using this product for about 6 months daily and I am still on my first .5oz. I use this tiniest amount that can be distributed and voila, it's enough for my entire face. It's got no perfumy scent and seeps into my skin almost instantly so I can keep on going; there is no absorption time. I have found since using this my skin's overall appearance is better, it looks plumper and more radiant. Since I live in the Northeast, this winter has been really good for me, no dryness from the weather & elements and this moisture lasts all day for me. It is super expensive, but guys & dolls, when you find something called "Miracle Serum" and it's a miracle for you, it would be worth it to panhandle to come up with the coin for this product. I am a huge fan of Steven Victor; in fact, I use the entire line and I will review the other items also. When I use everything, I swear, like no other line I get more compliments that I do with anything else. His line really fights the signs of aging and is quick to correct skin that is out of control!! I can't give this a true rating, since for me, it's off the charts!!

    Review: It's a 10 leave in product

    Repairs dry damaged hair
    Smoothes & contrpls frizz
Flat iron spray & thermal protector
    Stops hair breakage
    Enhances natural body
    $17.96

    Review:
In my opinion, this product is a beyond a 10! I love it and can't stop raving about it to just about everyone I know. It is expensive for such a small amount, yet so WORTH it. It's light and works its way into my 'do like no other product. I have found that styling is a breeze and I am getting shiny, softer, fuller and more manageable hair. I give my doo a few spritzes right before I am about to dry and this is all I am using. (I used to use a few items.) I finish off with a light spray of hairspray and that is it. It really calms down my flyaways and hydrates. My hair is fine, so many other products are to much and leave my 'do looking flat and greasy. Not this, my hair is light and airy. I love it! I have been using it for a few weeks and haven't noticed any build up at all. Worth its weight in GOLD!!

    Review - MAC Tinted Lipglass

A unique lip gloss available in a wide variety of colours that can create a high gloss, glass-like finish or a subtle sheen. Designed to be worn on its own, over Lip Pencil or Lipstick, Tinted Lipglass is the perfect product for creating shine that lasts. It's pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic colour. It contains Jojoba Oil to help soften and condition the lips. Tinted Lipglass is packaged in a convenient bottle with a sponge tip applicator that provides a quick, smooth, even application.

Versatility is key with this MAC favorite, you can wear it lightly for that simple sheen or give your lips dramatic shine with a few more swipes. But buyer beware, if you can’t quite pull off the glassy look you’ll end up looking like you slapped a bunch of chicken grease on your lips and I’m certain that no one’s going for that look.

Personally, I prefer MAC Lipglass’ Revealing shade, it’s a nude color that suits most complexions and looks great when applied lightly.

Drawbacks to Lipglass include an odd scent that smells somewhat like liquid concealer and the very small bottle you get which doesn’t quite match up to the price.

But with over 50 shades, MAC’s Tinted Lipglass is sure to have a shade for even the pickiest of consumers.

Review- Roc Protient Fortify Lift and Define Eye Cream

Roc Protient Fortify Lift and Define Eye Cream

RoC® Protient Fortify™ Eye Cream increases skin firmness around the eyes, visibly lifts eyelids, and reduces puffiness to make eyes look younger and more awake.

How it works: The light, silky fluid absorbs quickly and begins working immediately with a unique blend of wheat polymer and DMAE -- a high performance tightening agent -- to help strengthen and tone the skin around your eyes.

If this product were a flag, I'd pledge allegiance to it. I'm on my third tube and that NEVER happens with me and eye creams. This easily spreadable fluid works for all over the eye area but the hallelujah part is what it does for the upper eyelid. I've got that nice, defined, eyelid crease back again and the outer corners don't seem to be in overhang mode anymore. It also works very well under makeup.

If (gulp) you've definitely gotten past the "fine lines" stage, this cream might make you stop thinking about having your eyes done--or at least for a few hours. Product is about $19 at chain drugstores.

    Review - Unforgivable Woman Perfume

Unforgivable Woman embodies the essence of sensuality that intoxicates the senses. This delicate blend of bergamot, orange flower, jasmine and coco de mer is captured in a deep rose gold bottle that glistens with femininity. A seductive scent that expresses what it is to be the unforgivable woman.

After the tremendous success of Hip-Hop mogul Sean ‘P Diddy’ Comb’s debut men’s fragrance, Unforgivable, I knew that I had to get my hands on the women’s version of this popular fragrance once it was released.

Advertised as a blend of bergamot, orange flower, jasmine and coco de mer, Unforgivable Woman is sexy, sassy, and seductive. I’m big on aesthetics and the whole ’less is more’ movement so I love the simple rose-gold glass bottle, it’s charming and classy something I’m sure P Diddy was aiming for with his latest fragrance.

Although Unforgivable Woman scores major points with its aesthetics and sultry scent, its longevity is lacking. I purchased the parfum vaporisateur and my usual two sprays to the wrists seemed to last only about two to three hours.
To my delight, the perfume was part of a set that included three lip glosses, but to my disappointment the three lip glosses all looked exactly the same when I tried them even though they varied greatly in color (nude pink, mauve brown, and a sparkly rouge color). As a lip gloss fanatic this was somewhat of a disappointment.

Overall, I’m in love with the scent, but when it comes to choosing fragrances longevity is a major factor for me and Unforgivable Woman just doesn’t stack up.

Review - Caress Tahitian Renewal Body Wash

Want a mini vacation today? A trip to the islands will leave your skin looking and feeling renewed. Caress Tahitian Renewal Body Wash, with pomegranate seeds and Tahitian palm milk, gently exfoliates & luxuriously moisturizes to smooth your skin. Feel renewed, everyday!

Using this body wash smells like falling into a vat of tropical fruit. I guess some people are into that.

    Cityslicker says:
I totally agree with Movie Maven, it's a tropical dream if those are the scents you are into.. I love and it.. The scent is warm and inviting.. I love the fruity florals that fill the bathroom when showering.. What I didn't like was the there is a tiny bit of scrub to it, not enough to make a difference on my skin.. I bought it on a trip to Target and loved the scent, my body needs exfoliation the I can feel and this wasn't it, so it's not quite a shower gel because of the teeny bit of scrub, to much for me to attend to shave with and definitely not enough for some scrubbing action.. I used it along with a bath pouf so all ended well, it's a really inexpensive option for a special tropical get away right at home.. I think it's has the dreamiest scent! I love it for that!

    Review- Lancome Imanance Tinted Moisturizer

This ultra-light, tinted creme adds just a hint of sheer, luminous colour while protecting your complexion from environmental conditions. SPF 15, anti-oxidants and an anti-pollution barrier help prevent signs of premature skin aging.

I absolutely love the way this moisturizer makes my skin look. It brightens without adding too much color, plus you can hardly feel it. I don't use it as a moisturizer though, I actually use it on top of my daily moisturizer as a foundation. I find that it keeps my skin looking fresh and bright. It goes on smooth never streaky, and lasts all day that way. Not quite enough moisture by itself, but it looks and feels great when your using it in combination with a moisturizer.

    In 4 shades. $43.50

    Review- Urban Decay Eyeshadow

This is the product we were born to make – our best-seller! Professionals, celebrities, and makeup junkies swoon for our wide array of shades. Each one is pigment-rich: we load the shadow with color, and add very few binders (the stuff that holds shadow together), resulting in beautiful color that blends easily and lasts. Lots of finishes to suit your mood: sparkle, shimmer, duotone or un-sparkly satin.
Our subway token compact comes complete with a window (see your shade without opening), and snaps shut with one hand – no more lost lids.
Tips: All Eyeshadows can be used wet for more intense color, try them as a liner!
Dust sparkly shades on cheekbones and shoulders with our Powder brush for unearthly shimmer.

I have to say I love this stuff, and I have loved it since I was about 14. The reason I add that is because it is not to be worn when you want to be taken seriously, it is more of a flashy fun night clubbing night out sort of eye shadow. Most of them (I have a few different shades and they all have it) contain some kind of sparkly ingredient like mica or something that really sparkles. It looks awesome, though, if you are going out and you want to look really bold and dynamic. It spreads really easily with just your finger, I think it actually applies less easily if you use a brush or sponge eyeshadow applier. They have an enormously wide array of colors, all of which are beautiful, you will definitely find something that suits any mood your in. I personally can't use any of the darker shades, because they are really bold, but if you are looking for an eyeshadow that you can really see, but isn't super matte and not at all boring looking give it a try. The official site says that they are $16 a compact, but honestly it will last you a long time and won't break in your bag!

    Review- Duwop Hands 2 Hair

Two great products in one, this super emollient hand cream doubles as the perfect styling cream for hair that needs a little frizz-ease.

One of the annoying things about putting in de-frizzing hair products is the stuff left on your hands after you rub it in, but not with this! This awesome combination hand cream and hair de-frizzer smells great, isn't tested on animals, and left my hair super soft and shiny with no frizz even on the most rain new york city day. I've used it now in warm and cold weather and for both types of flyaway problems (hot humidity and cold dry-ness) and it's worked really well to keep my hair from flying in every direction.

Just a teeny little dab in my hand was all I needed, smoothed through my dry hair (I suppose you can use it on wet hair also, but I find it works better on dry hair) didn't just get rid of my frizz, it actually gave me quite a bit of noticeable lift and texture. As a hand cream it's pretty standard, but pretty smelling and not greasy or slimy, and my hands feel soft. It's reasonably priced for the amount you get and how long it lasts (about $16 at Sephora) and works better than any of the other leave-in defrizzers I have tried as far as not looking greasy after a few hours.
    $16.50 @ Sephora

    Movie Maven says:
I was fully prepared to write off this product as a 2-in-1 fad that didn't live up to expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised when it worked just fine. It's nothing terribly revolutionary in terms of a hair styling product; there are others that do the same thing (lessen frizz and give shine) just as well or better. The genius of this product, however, is that it really is a nice lotion (that smells great), so you don't have to wash your hands after putting it in your hair. Just rub it in! It's not really the kind of product I would normally use (my hair isn't terribly frizzy), but for what it does, it works well, and if you keep it in your bag, you're prepared for both flyaway hair and dry hands! Hooray! $16.50 @ beauty.com.

    Review- Kiss Me Mascara

BLINK: Kiss Me Mascara Kiss Me Mascara is the original mascara invented to form tiny water-resistant “tubes” around your lashes rather than painting them like conventional mascaras. Once applied, the tubes bind to your lashes and cannot run, smudge, clump, or flake, even if you cry or rub your eyes. Kiss Me Mascara will add both volume and length to give you a radiant natural look that lasts all day. Only when you are ready for removal, the tubes will effortlessly slide off your lashes into your hand without the use of a harsh makeup remover. All it takes is the combination of lots of warm water and gentle pressure, from your fingertips, a washcloth or water pressure (i.e. shower) and the tubes will slide off your lashes effortlessly. Upon removal you will actually see the tiny tubes in your hand! Kiss Me Mascara has been clinically tested to be non-irritating making it ideal for sensitive eyes, contact lens wearers, and active people in search of a mascara whose look, hold and ease of removal is without compromise.

This mascara is awesome. The company is really interesting, it is based in America, and they "strive to offer the most quality cosmetics on the market." I love the way that my lashes look with this mascara on. They look much longer and curlier, they stick together a little bit more and don't look as feathery as with ordinary mascaras. I like this look, but it could be a little too dramatic for some people. The one drawback is that the "tubes" need to dry on your eyelashes for almost a minute, it takes longer than any other mascara I have used. The huge plus though is that it doesn't smudge on your face, even if you cry or get caught in the rain, and it is incredibly easy to get off if a disaster occurs and you need to get your make-up off in a hurry. You don't need make-up remover, all you need is a damp cloth and warm water. It is a little expensive, $25 for a regular tube, but I have to say it is soooooooooo worth it.

Review - Juice Organics SPF 30 Light Tint Moisturizer

Nourish your skin with safe, healthy organic ingredients. You'll love the way your skin looks and feels. This mineral-tinted daily moisturizer combines chemical-free sun protection with certified organic white grape and pomegranate juices, vitamin antioxidants and essential nutrients to replenish and protect for maximum anti-aging benefits.

Tinted Moisturizer! It's light, right? Airy! Like you're not even wearing makeup! That's the idea, at least. Apparently the folks at Juice Organics missed that meeting, because this tinted moisturizer is thicker and more unmanageable than some actual foundations I've used. Perhaps it's because I'm only using Step 3 in what is set up as a 3-part system, but somehow I don't think more of their products will make this one work any better. I just felt like it was too thick to be a moisturizer, but didn't go on as easily as a regular foundation would. The worst of both worlds! Don't waste your money. I'm not even going to tell you where it's sold.

    Hillary says:
I couldn't agree more with Maven! This stuff feels like liquid latex! The first time I wore it I went to the gym. After about 1 squat my face started sweating profusely. I thought 'Well it might just be because I'm exercising'. How wrong I was. I wore it the other day out to the store in 40 degree weather. Again with the sweating. Not only that, it doesn't cover jack! Every flaw was still visible. I do recommend you try their Vitamin Anti-Oxidant Serum. It's very good & has lots of ingredients that are good for your face. But stay clear of the tinted moisturizer.

Review - Garnier Fructis Brilliantine Shine Glossing Spray

With fruit micro-waxes. Long-lasting high-shine finish. Garnier Fructis Style Brilliantine Shine: Turn on the shine to brilliantly styled hair! Garnier Fructis Style Brilliantine Shine, with fruit micro-waxes, seals shine and moisture into the hair for long-lasting, in-control style with lustrous sheen. What is Brilliantine Shine Glossing Spray? A new generation, non-greasy shine spray that locks in luster for soft, manageable hair with a long-lasting, glossy shine.

Ohhh the things I do to my hair. Sometimes I can't believe it doesn't come flying out in chunks every time I run my hair through it. Not only do i dye it monthly with semi-permanent dye (and I do it myself!) i also heat style it with irons and curling irons, hair dryers and hot rollers constantly. Needless to say, between dye jobs, it loses a lot of it's luster and can look really dull and awful. This little spray is pretty good and for under $5 I am definitely going to switch over to using this versus other REALLY much more expensive glosses. My hair is also fairly fine and it doesn't look greasy / get weighed down by the product. If I use the iron, I spray it on before AND after use and it protects my hair and adds a really noticeable shine that would otherwise be horribly lacking.

Review - Estee Lauder Day Wear Plus

More than moisture. More than protection.
DayWear Plus actively shields skin from the multiple assaults of the environment to help prevent lines before they appear—so your skin looks younger longer. The secret?
    - An active response anti-oxidant system with a powerful blend of new and natural ingredients.
    - A skin-friendly UVA/UVB screen you can wear AM and PM.
    - An advanced dual moisture system to keep skin feeling moist and healthy.
    Lightweight, oil-free creme. Dermatologist-, Ophthalmologist-tested.

This is one of the nicest face creams, that I have ever used. I have normal skin, so I don't need a whole lot of moisture so anything too heavy is annoying. I have tried a lot of different creams and lotions on my face in the past, that leave my face feeling sticky and covered. This cream goes on silky smooth and light weight so you don't feel like your wearing anything. It has an SPF of 15, which is important all year round. It also has a really clean cucumber melon type of fragrance that smells nice when you first put it on. It is sort of expensive ($38 for 1.4 oz) but with all of the promos that Estee Lauder always gives (free Shipping, and 3 free items with purchase online right now) you get a bunch of fun free stuff to try!

Review - Bain de-luxe Foaming Body Scrub

Indulge in our invigorating Apricot Seed, Aloe Vera, & Vegetable Glycerin foaming body scrub (free of harsh detergents). Use often to exfoliate and encourage new skin growth.

I'm a girl who likes a lot of lather. I know it doesn't mean it's cleaning any better, but it's so fun to have a ton of soapy foam all over the place, right? And this scrub, unlike a lot of others, foams up very nicely (especially if you use a pouf*). The exfoliant properties were fairly gentle - it falls somewhere between a basic drugstore brand exfoliating shower gel and a sugar scrub. I thought it was a happy medium that did the trick. I used the Vanilla Citrus scent; while I'm not a big fan of vanilla, I do love me some citrus, and this was lovely and not too strong. Overall, I'd recommend it for people who like mild exfoliation and a lot of bubbles! $3.99/250 mL @ drugstore.com.

from Amanda S: I have the lavender scent version of this product and I have to say, it smells delicious and really does foam up nicely on the pouf. It's not too gritty either, as I find a lot of shower scrubs really hurt the sensitive skin on my legs and arms because the granules are too big and chunky (which sounds gross and IS gross). For the price it can't be beat if you demand skin exfoliation in the shower.

Review - Nuxe Gentle Aromatic Exfoliant

Frequent Use Face and Decollete with Essential Oils and Walnut Seeds
    All Skin Types
Gently removes dead cells and impurities. Leaves the skin clear, soft and radiant.
Formulated to minimize the risk of allergic reaction.
    Non comedogenic.
Product not tested on animals, contains no coloring agents or animal ingredients.

Nuxe just makes great stuff. They don't test on animals (which makes me happy) and they wholeheartedly leave out ingredients that can irritate sensitive skin, or skin that is prone to overreact to scrubbing. This facial and decollete exfoliant smells really great and isn't too gritty or scary to use. It's gentle like the label says and could be used frequently... I'd go so far as to say a person that finds they get dull skin very easily could use this 5-6 times a week with no real problems (I always recommend a day to give your skin a break from every 'treatment' you use during the week). This is the perfect exfoliant for anyone who has tried others and found them too drying or harsh, or went days with a red face after using the wrong one. The scrubbing agent (I believe walnut seed) isn't brutal on the skin and the other calming ingredients make a great balance.

Review - Jane Lipkick Ribbons Lip gloss

    • Pure lipgloss provides a super lustrous finish with a hint of vanilla and sheer color highlights.
    • Mirror and brush inside.
Here's a really cute and neat idea. Taking 5 different shades of lip gloss and putting them in a little pan with a brush and a mirror in the bottom. I love Jane Lip gloss anyway, it goes on with no lumps or weird clumps in it, and the colors in the palette I have (called "Brocade") are really cute and go great with my skin tone. the little brush works really great too, and my only real issue here is that the brush has to be used in all the different colors so it gets a little mixed up AND the brush is in a compartment at the bottom of the case and it rattles around and the compartment gets a little messy. But otherwise it's a great deal (around $5 for 5 colors!) and the lip gloss is really cute and fun to use. I like using the brush more than the usual stick that goes into the tube of lip gloss, it goes on a lot better, and having the mirror is awesome. GOOD DEAL.

Review - Bath and Body Works Freesia Shower Gel

Your favorite fragrances are back, and available online every day! With the Bath & Body Works Classics Collection, you can always find our all-time customer favorites, like Sheer Freesia. In this subtle fragrance, softly scented freesia blossoms radiate a sophisticated, very feminine essence.
    Domestic.
    • Fragrant, everyday cleanser refreshes and conditions skin
    • Fragrance Top Notes: Plum, Grass Accord
    • Fragrance Mid Notes: Baby Freesia Accord, Rose
    • Fragrance Base Notes: Sandalwood, Musk
Let's be honest here: if you're reading this blog, you've probably used something, at some point, from Bath & Body Works. It's like the McDonald's of scented bath products - ubiquitous, predictable, and relatively cheap. The Sheer Freesia (why sheer?) scent is a clean, inoffensive floral scent, the kind of scent that usually garners a reaction of neither enthusiasm nor insult. This is not to sound negative about the noble freesia or its applications at Bath & Body Works. This scent is the perfect middle ground: there's nothing not to like about it, so everyone will sort of like it by default. My recommendation: buy this for someone like an acquaintance or a coworker if you're not sure of what sort of scent she likes. For yourself, though...find something more interesting. $4 (down from $9.50) online and in stores.

    Review - Revlon Flair Perfume

Flair Perfume by Revlon, This Phenomenal Fragrance Was Created By Revlon, In 2006. Its Sexy Scent Includes A Mixture Of Passion Fruit, Black Currant, Peony, Ylang-ylang, Plum, Praline, And Patchouli. This Spectacular Perfume Would Make A Great Gift For Any Occasion.

For $16 at CVS, this little perfume can't be beat, it has a great soft fruity smell to it (the peony smell really comes through too, and i LOVE peonies), and it is not overpowering and doesn't die down too quickly after application. The bottle is cute and the rich red color of the box really describes the richness of the scent, it's soft and quiet yet very well blended, I think this would make a great gift because almost anyone could wear it, it's classic enough for your mother and sexy enough for your girlfriend. It would mix well with almost any person and any occasion.

    Hillary says:
I agree that this is a nice perfume, but it's not my style. It is very much a "classic" scent for people who like florals. I also like that it lasts. You can have the best scent in the world, but if it doesn't last, what's it worth? I think you're getting surprising value if this perfume is only $16. Use the link above to get to CVS & get $5 off $30 and free shipping.

    Movie Maven says:
I'm not much of a perfume girl, so testing this was like uncharted waters for me. Usually I smell like my shampoo or lotion, so they're very subtle scents; I was worried that this would be overpowering. But the scent was interesting and a little exotic, almost spicy, but not too much. It definitely smells like something more expensive than a drugstore brand, and (without having a whole lot to compare it to) it seemed to last a reasonable amount of time. I wouldn't wear this every day, but if I wanted to feel fancy, I would probably bust it out again. Also, the bottle is quite pretty.

Review - Philosophy Candy Cane Foaming Bubble Bath and Shower Gel

Indulge your senses and spread a little holiday cheer with this special bubble bath and shower gel in one. The luscious peppermint infused scent will make you feel like you've stepped into a winter wonderland.

I am primarily familiar with the Philosophy brand as "that one brand with all the flavors." With scents like Sugar Cookie, Coconut Frosting, Senorita Margarita, and Chocolate Ice Cream (currently in my shower, courtesy of my roommate), their products often feature a recipe on the label (making me want to make ice cream every time I take a shower). The candy cane scent is a special holiday one, and I will say this much: you better love candy canes if you plan on buying a bottle of this stuff. It smells lovely, it's true, but WOW is that smell ever THERE in your FACE. It lathered up fine with a pouf* and was neither particularly drying nor particularly moisturizing. Standard-issue shower gel, I'd say, with a good scent for mint aficionadas.

    *Incidentally, this is a pouf:

    This is a loofah:

One is made of nylon. One is made of a vine. That's all.

Review - Bath & Body Works

Your favorite fragrances are back, and available online every day! With the Bath & Body Works Classics Collection, you can always find our all-time customer favorites, like Sun-Ripened Raspberry. In this positively irresistible fragrance, the scent of summer-ripened berries blends delectably with a hint of green vine.
    Domestic.
    • Fragrant, everyday body lotion leaves skin soft, smooth and beautifully healthy
    • Fragrance Top Notes: Raspberry, Florida Orange, Apple
    • Fragrance Mid Notes: Rose, Tagette, Green Bouquet, Ylang
    • Fragrance Base Note: Vanilla
This is sort of a no-brainer because I know most people have tried things from Bath & Body works because of the human propensity to buy women gifts from this store (I'm not complaining!)... but they're often touted just for their smells and not as much for the quality of the actual product, for example the soap being gentle or the lotion in this case, really moisturizing. But last night I had a bad case of dry hands, I'd walked around in the semi-cold all day with no gloves and no hand cream. I had this little sample hanging around and not only do I want to lick my hands because it smells so delicious but it really did moisturize and last, my hands stayed soft all night and smelled awesome.

    CitySlicker Says:
I have the Bath & Body Works Body Lotion in Sheer Freesia. This is a light sweet freesia scent. I really like it. It moisturizes my body really well and leaves behind a perfumed body. I don't bother wearing any additional scent when using this lotion. I don't need to, it carries throughout the day. I find that applying right after towel drying from the shower is the best method. My skin feels soft and smooth. I do get a little red when I apply after shaving. I should know better! This lotion hydrates my skin all day! Great scent and nice lotion!

Review - Estee Lauder Pleasures Delight Perfume Spray

Treat yourself to something delicious...a playful side of pleasures that's simply irresistible.

This floral confection blends notes of juicy Pomegranate, whipped Strawberry Meringue and tempting Caramel with a sprinkling of Sugared Rose Petals, dewy Freesia, White Peony and Fresh Greens.

Remember that perfume Baby soft? Everyone I knew wore that in the 80's and I loved the weird cinnamon -y smell that it had, and I miss it, although I feel I'm probably too old for it now. This perfume isn't exactly like it, but something about the caramel smell of it reminds me a tinge of baby soft with a grown-up and more sexy appeal to it. Although it touts itself as a fruity scent, on my skin it wasn't as fruity as it was floral, which I won't complain about. I definitely recommend this for people that do not like perfumes that can be too dark, this is a nice light scent that lasts all day (but not too strong!).

    Hillary says:

First off let me say I LOVE this perfume! That's not something I say very often, I'm very picky when it comes to scents. This is sweet without being saccharine and floral at the same time. It's one of those scents that smell so good you wish you could eat it. It has it's floral side, but I smell a bit of vanilla (in a good way). This is a very pretty fragrance that could take you from the office (used in moderation) to a romantic dinner. I plan on buying the full size when I run out of what I have.

Review - L'Estee Deep Clean Detoxifying Oxygenation Mask

Cleansed the skin's impurities, improves skin's suppleness and elasticity, leaves skin feeling fresh and smooth.

When you read that a product is a "mask," you probably assume that the product is some sort of gel or clay or other spreadable something that you spread over your face and then rinse off. I know I usually do. Which makes this mask SO BIZARRE. It's a LITERAL mask. Made of fabric-y stuff that you actually unfold and put on your face. I realize that it might be hard to conjure up this image, so I took a picture:

I'm trying to look terrifying. I think it worked.

When you open the package, it's like removing a paper towel soaked in olive oil, which isn't fun. But it didn't rip when I unfolded it (Fear #1) and it wasn't too small - it was even a little too big - for my face (Fear #2). Once I put it on, it felt like one of those cooling gel eye packs you stick in the fridge, except all over my face. It was kind of nice, but I'm not sure what it could be accomplishing. That confusion continued when I removed the mask - my skin felt pretty soft, but I'm not sure what the mask actually did in terms of "deep cleaning" and "detoxifying." And at $48.00 for a pack of 6, these things aren't exactly a bargain. The only time I can imagine this being better than, say, a peel-off mask from a tube is in the heat of the summer - the cooling properties would be amazing!

Review- L'Occitane Ice Hand Cream Gel

Unique gel turns to a matte, powdery finish, reducing perspiration and swelling sensations. Enriched with organic verbena extract and tapioca powder to soothe and absorb, leaving hands feeling dry and cooled. The aroma of verbena, orange, geranium and lemon tree appeals to men and women.

    $18 for 2.6 oz. @ L'Occitane

This is a very unique product. It's a hand cream that goes on like a cooling gel then dries to a powdery finish. It's so handy! No slippery hands like with ordinary hand cream. I use a touchpad mouse and it's almost impossible to use if you are wearing hand cream, except this one. It smells like fresh verbena leaves (one of my favorite smells). I don't recommend this to people looking for heavy duty moisturization, but if you're looking for a light, daytime hand cream, this one is great.
