Review- Obliphica Hair Serum Treatment (obliphica.com)

This item is, hands down, my favorite all time hair treatment ever used, ever in the entire time my teensy head of hair has been on this planet. SERIOUSLY. It's not easy to find, (click on the header of this entry to find a store), but it's worth it. My hair has been, (as below in my Hair Date review) semi-fried and mangled as of late by triple+ bleaching and then redying brown trying to reach my natural color. When I started using this Serum after I received a sample at the International Beauty Show (several months ago), I began harassing Hillary to find me more and to find out where people can get this stuff. After digging, we've found it online. I can hear people now saying, REALLY? 20-something dollars for 4 ounces? But let me tell you, I got a sample that was under 1 oz, and it has lasted me for at least 4 months and there is still about 80% left in the bottle! (using with literally every wash of my hair). I'm telling you, it's so worth it. Since the first time I used the Obliphica treatment, my hair went from sort of scraggly and fighting against style to laying nice, shiny and frizzlessly atop my head doing everything I'd hoped it would ever do. You know those obnoxious hair product commercials where the girl has computer-enhanced super mega shiny hair and you're thinking "YEA RIGHT!!"? My hair feels that shiny and nice!
Alas, no, my hair didn't magically turn into something it could never have been before, but now it behaves. And by behaves I mean, it doesn't dry out, frizz out, or get dull and sad looking on me. I feel like I can trust this product in my hair under any conditions. The only time I've needed to call in back up was one day of literal 85% humidity here in NYC, torrentially downpouring, when I dabbed on a bit of frizz-proof serum after 7+hours of being stuck in the city-sauna fuzzin-ating my hair. This was after 3 months of use, and was absolutely the only time I needed another product. I also hadn't washed my hair in 2 days and hadn't therefore applied this product in 2 days.
So, If you hate using multiple products or do not have the money for buckets of fancy cleansers and treatments, buy THIS. I feel like it's *almost* magical. No matter the insanity I have subjected my hair to in the past 3 months... it's bounced back and looks strangely smug about having survived.

Review- RUSK Gleam Lusterizing Creme

I attempted to be as unbiased a jury as possible by using this on both wavy "non-blown-out" hair post airdry, as well as, before and then after a blowout to fully analyze its 'gleaming' properties. In terms of the amount I used, and this is key, I rubbed a tiny amount on in both cases when my hair was already dry and a bit more when it was wet. It worked best pre-blowout since the product is fairly thick and heavy and the heat was able to burn a lot of the weightiness off. I feel confident that it could roll with the changing needs of your daily hair regime if a judicious amount of the product is applied accordingly. It smells like other RUSK products, clean and woodsy, and the shine it imparts is true to it name. I should admit that I have a soft spot for this brand. I think they're really classy. This one definitely measures up.

Trish says: My hair can be so high-maintenance sometimes. It seems to work with some products and simply fall flat on others. Unfortunately, for me, I don't think my hair can handle the richness and thickness of this RUSK Lusterizing Gleam Creme. It did take the frizz out as promised, but after a nice small lather of the cream, my hair just sank, frizz-free, but floppy. I'm sure this is a nice cream to use for frizz-control and shine purposes, but with hair so delicate and fine, this cream might be just a bit too bold and strong for me. It is probably most beneficial for someone with thicker hair and a stronger hold. I have a feeling this is a great product, just not for the likes of me and my fussy hair.

Hillary says: This gloss looks really good in my hair. My hair should have been as dull as dishwater today with the myriad of products I had to put in it to make it behave, but the Gleam made the final blow-dry reveal a lustrous head of hair. Honestly, before we got these products to review I hadn't given RUSK a second look in the haircare aisle. Now I'm thinking maybe I should get the whole line up. I'm really impressed with both the Gleam and my favorite new product- the Primer.

Deedlejuse says: I totally agree with all of the above. I don't often blow dry, so I tried this products both ways and was impressed with the effect each way. Of course the shine was more pronounced when I blew-dried, but still noticeable when I didn't. All in all I liked everything I tried from Rusk, and like Hillary am seriously contemplating the addition of more of their products to my arsenal!

Amanda S. Says: I wish I could agree with everyone, but I feel sort of let down by this product! It makes me sad too because I am usually such a huge fan of Rusk items. I have to admit, I am really hard on hair shining/anti-frizz products and put them to serious tests. But today was the second big test I've given the stuff and it didn't work that well for me. It's been raining on and off all day and it's also pretty humid, and by the time I got back at my desk from lunch my hair was a fuzzy insane mess on the top and little awful flyaway hairs were going everywere. This is something I've been able to fight off fairly well, even in this abusive NYC summer, with other products for less money. So I can't give this a 100% seal of approval. I do admit though, it did make my hair extra soft.

Sultana says: I have frizzy, dry & color-treated hair. I haven't liked one cream so far. I usually use serums because they tend to tame my frizz better. When I tried this cream from RUSK, I was blown away! It instantly detangled my hair and made it soft and shiny! This deeply impressed me and like Hillary, I will take a better look when I come across RUSK in the hair care aisle. This is definitely worth the money. It is around the same cost of some of the serums I usually buy. To top it off, its very light weight and it does not leave a residue on your hands. This is my new favorite!

Review-Chi Silk Infusion

This serum adds shine to your hair like nothing else, but sadly, it doesn't last too long. Just smooth a few drops onto your hair after styling and its instantly left with a natural radiance without weighing your hair down. It could be all the silk and soy proteins, but no other serum has given my hair such a natural looking shine. However, like most silicone based serums, the effects of the shine are short-lived. By the end of the day my hair was looking pretty dull; I tried reapplying, but a few hours later it lost its shine again and started to feel gunky. They say it doesn't build-up, but I think that means if you only apply it once a day. The company also says you can use it on your skin, but that wasn't exactly my cup of tea. Overall, I would say this stuff is okay but considering the price tag (and the fact that it smells a little bit like my boyfriend's cologne) I wouldn't spend my money on this.

Josephine says: It took me the longest time to figure out the usage for Chi Silk on my skin as the bottle suggests. You have to admit, it sounds intriguing that you could use your hair serum on your body. I tried applying it to my rough spots, i.e elbows and heels but it basically slid off. I rubbed it into my face in hopes that I might suddenly appear like I was 25, again. But I just succeeded in facilitating a necessary yet impromptu microdermabrasion to remove the sheen off of my face. Finally, it occured to me that my legs, still damp post-shaving, could glisten and gleam and not be ridiculed. As it turns out, the bottle does not falsely advertise. The Chi is as loving to my skin as it is to my dry-ish highlighted head of hair!

Says: I had a sample of this, but before reviewing I wanted to get a larger amount to try because I am a SUPER stickler for hair shining products and want to be sure a stamp of approval is not haphazardly handed out. I would say this Chi product is right up there at the top of the list, and is relatively well priced also. I do love all of the Chi products I have tried so far, which is A LOT by the way, and I recommend their line to anyone wanting to try something new and fun but not wanting to blow their money on a product that's going to be a total disappointment. Any Chi product seems to be rigorously tried out by the company before marketing, because they haven't had a 'miss' yet with me.

Review - Barex Italiana Gloss Spray

Let there be light. Even the most product weary will be thrilled with the weightlessness of the "must have" product for all hair types. Barex Gloss Spray prevents colour from oxidizing. Lightens a dull hair day with light reflecting mist.

We all have those days (like today, specifically, for me) when your hair just looks like it needs a lift. Perhaps it has been a few months between coloring, or the heat was up extra high last night, or there just wasn't time for the entire straightening process. It doesn't matter what did it.... only what you can do to make it go away! This Barex Gloss Spray is the answer to my problems. I have blond (processed) hair, that looks super shiny when all of the stars align in my favor, but can look really dull during the rest of the month. With a little spritz of this amazing gloss spray all of my hairs frizz-free shine and glory is restored. It doesn't make my hair look greasy ever (even if I apply more than once throughout the day) and doesn't smell like much so it doesn't compete with whatever else I might be wearing that day. I will say that $25 for 5 oz seems a bit steep to me (since you can find other pharmacy brands for so much less) but the effect really isn't comprable. This light spritz doesn't just add some oil to lighten your hair, it works on the roots of the problem. I highly reccomend this product!

I didn't really think this stuff would do anything special for me. I've been straightening my hair and dying the heck out of it for several years and I need constant maintenance of the ends of my hair (Read: cutting it all the time) to not get really bad damage. It's been just about time to trim my hair again and I decided to do an experiment, to just air dry my hair and not iron it afterward because the humidity is waning and my hair isn't as out of control as it usually is. I've also been using this stuff for about a week now, and my ends look sleek, fuzzless, and not frazzled or frizzy at all. So I think I can put off cutting it and actually grow my hair out a little, which I've been wanting to do for quite a while. I haven't found another split end mender that works like this. And it's cheap!

I admit, I tested this stuff out on my boyfriend's hair before my own, because his is short and he uses glazes and waxes on his hair. I was afraid it would leave my hair stiff, flat and 'crunchy' or something, I wanted to use him as my guinea pig to see how it'd turn out in my own hair once I saw it in his. Turns out, it only feels stiff when it's on wet hair, but once it dried, his hair was really soft, and held it's style without looking 'frozen' or over-gelled. So then I took the plunge and tried it myself. I put a dime sized amount on my palms, rubbed them together and rubbed it through my hair starting on the top layer and working it underneath. After it dried, it seemed 'as usual', then I ironed by hair with my trusty ceramic straightening iron and took off for the day. It was exceptionally humid, I believe it was almost 85% humidity outside. Usually in that sort of brutal weather I inevitably get some fuzzies along my hairline and around my part no matter how well the iron works, but to my amazement there was no fuzz. And on top of that all, it stayed put and helped keep my growing out bangs out of my face without looking slicked or weird. I really like this stuff and it comes in a giant bottle too that seems like it will last forever.

I have to admit that after reading Amanda’s review my review is quite similar... I have shoulder length color treated hair that is fine. I always use product for manageability and volume... I also want to mention that I have straight hair and use an iron to keep it that way. I have used this everyday this week and have found that I am loving it... I have been using the glaze and a little finishing spray... It really adds a lot of shine and makes my hair appear healthier than normal... The scent is lovely, it’s a citrus scent that initially scared me, I was thinking it was going to dry out my hair, not the case at all. I do notice that my hair is holding the style throughout the day. I think based upon the generous size this is a definite for doo junkies, I will be 100 before I could use all this up... I apply about a dime sized squirt... Also my hair doesn’t feel weighed down or like there is any product in it... It washes out completely too!

This company is sooooooooooo cool! They believe in fair trade, so they actually donate profit (I think) to the Miskito people of Central America. This helps ensure that the rainforests there will be protected. I love that story as much as I loved this mist! It smells awesome, very nutty and deep and spicy. It didn’t leave my hair smelling too strong either, sort of like a mini-perfume. It didn’t compete with other smells I was wearing, because it blended nicely. The spray was very light and didn’t leave my hair greasy, as some shine sprays can if you use too much. It really did leave my hair super shiny though, really beautiful. It my hair looked shiny and bright all day long. I would without a doubt buy this spray again, and I would probably try the rest of their products too… I love being pampered while I contribute to helping the world and environment!

Ohhh the things I do to my hair. Sometimes I can't believe it doesn't come flying out in chunks every time I run my hair through it. Not only do i dye it monthly with semi-permanent dye (and I do it myself!) i also heat style it with irons and curling irons, hair dryers and hot rollers constantly. Needless to say, between dye jobs, it loses a lot of it's luster and can look really dull and awful. This little spray is pretty good and for under $5 I am definitely going to switch over to using this versus other REALLY much more expensive glosses. My hair is also fairly fine and it doesn't look greasy / get weighed down by the product. If I use the iron, I spray it on before AND after use and it protects my hair and adds a really noticeable shine that would otherwise be horribly lacking.
