Review- Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder

What I like best about the Maybelline Fit Me Line is that I'm sure to find the right shade for my skin tone. So far, as has been the case with the Fit Me Foundation, this pressed powder matches nicely with my normal skin tone and looks very natural on. It's a clean formula that leaves my skin feeling soft and unclogged. Usually, I'd layer loose or pressed powder on top of my foundation on top of a primer or serum plus on top of moisturizer before that, but with this fresh pressed powder, I'm finding that I need to wear it over moisturizer only and I'm set. It provides full coverage all-around and lasts all day, not to mention time-saving as well! Definitely worth a try if you're someone who likes to keep it simple and normally wear powder only, this Maybelline Fit Me powder seemed to cover it all nicely! This is one of the few cases, where I liked the product better in its most pure and simple form and preferred not to add it on top of anything else.

I never really understood the purpose of a mosaic pressed powder or loose powder. Like - if you're going to blend all those pigments anyway, what is the benefit of leaving them separate? Why not just blend them to begin with? I couldn't find an answer in my research, so I'm going to say it's because it looks pretty. Because it does!

I tried this NYC New York Color Mosaic Face Powder in the Pink Cheek Glow hue, and I think I've found my new favorite cheek color. It's a great blue-pink for those with cool undertones (that would be me), but olive-skinned or darker ladies may want to try the peach or the mocha versions.

Like most of the rest of the NYC line, the main draw here is the price. I found it online for as low as $3.60, and it's a fair bit larger than most blush compacts you'll find. It's serviceable and stays on admirably, and it's a good value, which I like, since I'm cheap. (Or maybe just Midwestern.)

Review- PUR Universal Marble Mineral Powder

The shade of the compact on the site is not quite what it looks like in person, IMO. It's more orange and rusty in the flesh. I was turned off by the color thinking it wasn't going to blend well into my coloring. But as luck would have it, mineral-based formulations are so soft and easy in the pigment department that with a fan brush I was able to apply the color and keep it light. It doesn't look amazing but it's nice and pretty chill. The write-up does say that it's ideal for women of color so I'll save it for that, primarily. BTW, the directions straight up say, "...with the appropriate brush" and I think this is code for fan brush (AKA guaranteeing the lightest application available). Ha!

Sultana says: I tend to not wear blush but I will try anything at least one time. Although this is a blush, it is suitable as an all over face color as well. The color is very light but flattering at the same time. I have a darker skin tone and it blended in very well. I really like the diversity of it. Some blushes are way to rosy to wear all over your face. I would say this is soft and subtle but with a hint of color.

The PUR Mineral Glow Mineral Light Split Pan gives us makeup lovers that easy age-old excuse to buy something new. It's two products in one! How utilitarian. One side holds a coppery hint-of-metallic bronzing powder while the other a shimmery light-reflecting highlighting powder. As a fair girl who occasionally likes the appearance of having been in the sun without actually having done so, finding a bronzer that does not go orange is a mission within itself. Luckily, this one does not go on orange or worse, turn tacky after time. But it is, alas, too gold for my skin tone. I am too pink for its sun-kissed goodness. The golden shimmer in the product would look lovelier on someone with a yellow-based skin tone. However, I think the highlighting powder is really special. It goes on soft and smooth from eyelids to cheekbones and it catches just enough light to look like your walking around with a hidden lighting crew whose sole purpose in life is to make you look flawless. My suggestion for the best application? Apply with a medium wide blush brush then tap gently into skin with a moisturizing toner sprayed onto a sponge. Viola! Subtle glimmery goodness.

I am not the type to use Matifying Powder generally. I usually like to look shiny and glimmery, but I got this Translucent Matifying Powder by e.l.f. and I cannot rave enough! It is so convenient, a very slim compact that fits perfectly into my rather small carry case. It provides a really nice big mirror, as well as some very useful powder that really covers up probem areas and stays put for the long haul. I have to say for three huge dollars I'd be sold even if I didn't love it, but I do love it so it is one of my favorite new finds of the month. I will be carrying this with me everywhere, and will definielty be re-purchasing in the not-so-distant future. There will also be some excited telephone calls to my similarly pale sister who has been spending much more on Shesido and Clinique. This I think is not only comprable, but might work better. Huge fan, not only of the powder, the line, the price, and the fact that it is animal cruelty free!! Really can you ask for more?

Review - Benefit's Dandelion Powder

I love the Benefit line, it's fun and youthful. I found this at a Sephora store a long time ago and fell in love with the gentle pink tone. I am fair so applying this like a highlighter gives me a fresh glow, it's not really shimmery so the look is pretty natural.. I wouldn't go so far to say it's flush look. It just adds a little something, it's very feminine and pretty.. I don't use the brush is comes with, I find that a kabuki brush distributes more evenly.. This little box is deep so you really get a lot of dandelion.. I find that this is a perfect look for the day..

Review- Too Faced Absolutely Invisible Translucent Pressed Powder

I weighed a lot of options before buying a pressed powder- Does it have to be all mineral? Do I want sunscreen? Talc free? I decided the number one factor is the way it wears. I was at the Too Faced counter and the Too Faced artist happened to be there. She said "This powder never gets cakey." I figured I'd give it a try. I also like the fact that it has environmental protection in the form of Vitamins C, A, & E. She was right about the cakey factor, I've never seen this powder go cakey no matter how many times I apply. The one thing I'm unsure of is that the powder is translucent, but in the pan it's a very light color. I don't know how it would come out on someone darker than me, but it's worth checking out if you're looking for powder without color that doesn't cake. P.S. Too Faced isn't tested on animals!
