I admit, I tested this stuff out on my boyfriend's hair before my own, because his is short and he uses glazes and waxes on his hair. I was afraid it would leave my hair stiff, flat and 'crunchy' or something, I wanted to use him as my guinea pig to see how it'd turn out in my own hair once I saw it in his. Turns out, it only feels stiff when it's on wet hair, but once it dried, his hair was really soft, and held it's style without looking 'frozen' or over-gelled. So then I took the plunge and tried it myself. I put a dime sized amount on my palms, rubbed them together and rubbed it through my hair starting on the top layer and working it underneath. After it dried, it seemed 'as usual', then I ironed by hair with my trusty ceramic straightening iron and took off for the day. It was exceptionally humid, I believe it was almost 85% humidity outside. Usually in that sort of brutal weather I inevitably get some fuzzies along my hairline and around my part no matter how well the iron works, but to my amazement there was no fuzz. And on top of that all, it stayed put and helped keep my growing out bangs out of my face without looking slicked or weird. I really like this stuff and it comes in a giant bottle too that seems like it will last forever.

I have to admit that after reading Amanda’s review my review is quite similar... I have shoulder length color treated hair that is fine. I always use product for manageability and volume... I also want to mention that I have straight hair and use an iron to keep it that way. I have used this everyday this week and have found that I am loving it... I have been using the glaze and a little finishing spray... It really adds a lot of shine and makes my hair appear healthier than normal... The scent is lovely, it’s a citrus scent that initially scared me, I was thinking it was going to dry out my hair, not the case at all. I do notice that my hair is holding the style throughout the day. I think based upon the generous size this is a definite for doo junkies, I will be 100 before I could use all this up... I apply about a dime sized squirt... Also my hair doesn’t feel weighed down or like there is any product in it... It washes out completely too!

I'm kind of a hairbrush idiot. I've just been using the same 'air' type plastic conair brand brush I've bought at the local Duane Reades since I can remember (or Kmarts... or CVS's...) and blown my hair out as best as I could. I also straight iron my hair, which tends to curl out in unattractive ways when I don't beat it into submission. Little did I know that the quality of the brush you use could make such a difference. I always wondered why the flyaway fuzzies of my hair always smoothed out so much after having it professionally blown out. Well, now I know. This brush may seem a bit pricey (around $25?) but it is iron solid and I imagine will last forever. The Boar Bristles apparently lay flat all the unruly cuticles of each hair as you dry it which leaves hair much smoother and shinier than with a regular run of the mill brush. I tried it out after taking last night's shower, and decided to blow dry without using my ceramic iron, and my hair was soft and shinier than ever, even WITHOUT leave in conditioner... and it stayed nice and straight the way I wanted it, layers and all.

My one recommendation with blowing out your hair with these types of brushes is to not start when your hair is completely wet. Wait until it's about 20-30% dry before you start blow drying, which will decrease the possibility of breakage and other hair damage.

Amanda S. has more to say: So... I got another brush from Monroe. This time it was the ceramic brush for medium to coarse/very curly hair. I normally just use an average brush and use a ceramic iron to straighten my hair, but decided to give this brush a try the other night to see how it would hold up with a hair drying blowout instead of the iron. My hair wasn't fried or frizzy at all, it was smooth like using an iron and I could tell it was less damaging. Although I'm addicted to the iron, I will definitely alternate the two to give my hair a break. It's a great brush!

Totally based upon Amanda’s review I made sure to wait for my doo to somewhat dry before I even attempted to blow out my doo. Thanks for the tip! I have fine shoulder length hair that I blow out daily unless I am feeling lazy and put it up. When I dry it, I dry in sections, it’s easier for me and worked well with the brush I received. I got the Monroe Latina Envy brush which is designed for medium to coarse hair which I have neither... I can attest to the flexibility of the line. I have been using and getting great results. My brush is constructed with natural and longer synthetic bristles... The synthetic bristles are really hard and if I brush too hard it hurts my scalps so I avoid that! This brush grips my hair like no other, it provides such hold that I can dry each section with ease. My hair never strays off the brush now. When a section is dry it’s smooth, no frizz and straight... If there was no humidity I wouldn’t have to use an iron either. I will continue to use and think this brush is comfortable to use and style with... I can only imagine what this will do for people with coarse hair! AMAZING!

I cannot believe that I almost forgot how wonderful this conditioner is! It is just amazing. I cannot even imagine leaving most conditioners in my hair -- they would weigh the hair down or make it look wet or greasy. This conditioner is truly weightless as they claim. You can put it on wet or dry hair. It works its magic on on either. My hair actually has some terrific body and looks more healthy than I have seen it look for a while. They have an excellent reputation in the hair care industry and I can see why. Their products definitely enhance your hair. They cost a little more than the average product -- but then they are much better than the average product. However, you might be lucky enough to find them on EBay at fantastic savings. This conditioner is only one item out of a package of Nexxus products I got at an unbelievably low price.

I'm never, ever faithful to hair styling products. If something sounds good, then I'm on it...I happened to be in Bath and Body when I saw this and since I typically buy volume products for my hair - I thought I'd give this a shot . (Plus I had a $10 off coupon). When I got home and was tooling around on the computer, I checked a well-known review site to see what other people thought and my first reaction after reading was "uh oh, I made a mistake buying this" as the reviews were mixed to say the least - however, as with everything else, your mileage may vary - and for me, this has turned into a lovely product that not only gives my hair body that lasts for the day, but doesn't make it feel weighed down or limp - it just makes my hair feel bouncy, with body, and manageable. I really like it! I don't like the smell as much as the Thermafuse Mousse I just got finished with (to be reviewed later - def. repurchase there!) and for the price, after this is gone, I'll go back to the ThermaFuse (unless something better comes along!) but this was a pleasant surprise and I'm glad I got it. Soft, volumized hair - not sticky, it's all good!

Review - Sunsilk Anti-Poof Shampoo, Styler & Conditioner

Soft, smooth hair that doesn't poof.

I've seen the ads for this stuff and they're pretty funny (a little corny?) but I DO get poofy hair in the summer and this product would probably do me good when it gets really humid outside and my hair is a fuzzball on top near my roots. It smells really clean and nice, and out of the three (the shampoo, the conditioner, and the styler) I would say the styler is the most useful and my favorite because it gives my hair a little bit of hold but also makes it seem a little thicker and less erratic and fuzzy up front where my bangs are growing out and can do REALLY weird stuff if I don't keep them in check. These products can all be had for under $5 which is a steal and they are 100% comparable to those 'anti-frizz products that are over $10-15 in drug stores. If you've got poof-fuzz, try this stuff first.

I don't know what to say except that if you have dry hair that lacks softness or shine, this is definitely a product worth trying! you don't need to use a lot to get results, (which is good because it definitely isn't cheap at about $17 a bottle) and it smells good and works great. Although these are the winter months, I strongly predict this stuff to be great during super hair-fuzzing-humid weather in NYC this summer. My hair is definitely, hands down, way more manageable after using this stuff versus other conditioners I currently have in my collection.

I purchased this product because it is a mousse that’s made for hair like mine, ethnic hair. Sadly, this product does absolutely nothing for me. The only positive thing I can say about this product is that it left my hair somewhat shiny and unlike most mousse products out there it doesn’t really leave your hair or hands sticky.

I normally wear my hair two ways: I either wash it and let it air dry for a wavy look or I blow dry and flat iron it for a straight look. I tried the mousse with both looks. When I let my hair air dry and applied the mousse, within a few minutes it seemed to have sucked a lot of moisture from my hair leaving it looking and feeling dry and when I blow dried my hair and applied the mousse it only seemed to weigh my hair down.

My hopes were very high for this product for several reasons, but unfortunately this product didn’t live up to my hopes at all.

The name pretty much says it all on this one: if you have short hair, and you want it to be sexy, like you slept in it, use this product. I know there's a man on the label; I think they've revamped their marketing strategy since I purchased mine. In any event, it doesn't smell like a man-targeted product, which is a dealbreaker for me. This texturizing cream isn't too heavy and gives my fine, stick-straight hair juuuuuust enough hold to do something other than lie flat on my head. You only need a tiny bit to make it work, so it'll last for a while. The one caveat I'll mention is that because it's intended to give you sort of dirty-looking hair, it can very quickly escalate from "sexy, texturized hair" to "I haven't showered in a week" hair, so be judicious and always start from the back of your head! The main complaint I have about this hair product is the one I have for all hair products: you have to wash your hands pretty well after using it. In the grand scheme of things, though, that's obviously a minor concern. In my opinion, this product is a beyond a 10! I love it and can't stop raving about it to just about everyone I know. It is expensive for such a small amount, yet so WORTH it. It's light and works its way into my 'do like no other product. I have found that styling is a breeze and I am getting shiny, softer, fuller and more manageable hair. I give my doo a few spritzes right before I am about to dry and this is all I am using. (I used to use a few items.) I finish off with a light spray of hairspray and that is it. It really calms down my flyaways and hydrates. My hair is fine, so many other products are to much and leave my 'do looking flat and greasy. Not this, my hair is light and airy. I love it! I have been using it for a few weeks and haven't noticed any build up at all. Worth its weight in GOLD!!

Review- Duwop Hands 2 Hair

Two great products in one, this super emollient hand cream doubles as the perfect styling cream for hair that needs a little frizz-ease.

One of the annoying things about putting in de-frizzing hair products is the stuff left on your hands after you rub it in, but not with this! This awesome combination hand cream and hair de-frizzer smells great, isn't tested on animals, and left my hair super soft and shiny with no frizz even on the most rain new york city day. I've used it now in warm and cold weather and for both types of flyaway problems (hot humidity and cold dry-ness) and it's worked really well to keep my hair from flying in every direction.

Just a teeny little dab in my hand was all I needed, smoothed through my dry hair (I suppose you can use it on wet hair also, but I find it works better on dry hair) didn't just get rid of my frizz, it actually gave me quite a bit of noticeable lift and texture. As a hand cream it's pretty standard, but pretty smelling and not greasy or slimy, and my hands feel soft. It's reasonably priced for the amount you get and how long it lasts (about $16 at Sephora) and works better than any of the other leave-in defrizzers I have tried as far as not looking greasy after a few hours.

I was fully prepared to write off this product as a 2-in-1 fad that didn't live up to expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised when it worked just fine. It's nothing terribly revolutionary in terms of a hair styling product; there are others that do the same thing (lessen frizz and give shine) just as well or better. The genius of this product, however, is that it really is a nice lotion (that smells great), so you don't have to wash your hands after putting it in your hair. Just rub it in! It's not really the kind of product I would normally use (my hair isn't terribly frizzy), but for what it does, it works well, and if you keep it in your bag, you're prepared for both flyaway hair and dry hands!
