Review- Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

When I first tried Maybelline's Fit Me Foundation, I had mixed feelings about it. On the good side, the shade (Sand Beige 210) matched my skin so nicely and blended amazingly naturally, I was sold! Moments later though I noticed that on top of my dry skin, it didn't seem to help it at all. Later, after I switched moisturizers and tried the Fit Me Foundation again, I noticed that the foundation looked so much better on top of my skin and provided just the right amount of coverage that I wanted and, well, needed. It's not a thick moisturizing foundation by itself, so for oily types, this is a welcomed bonus. Although if you lean on the dry side, especially during the winter months, the right moisturizer will make up for the lack of moisture, for me it did. Once I discovered to do that, the Fit Me Foundation seems to be just the sort of foundation I like - lightweight, affordable, natural-looking, and still provides good coverage with SPF 18 protection. By itself, with an average moisturizer, the foundation still had some ways to go, but with my favorite hydrating moisturizer, it evened out nicely.

I don't know about you, but with each change of the season, my skin seems to act up like some wild teenager on a mission. With allergies in full swing, I'm also finding new bags under my eyes each morning and random breakouts from switching to heavier creams and moisturizers. Thank goodness for Urban Cowgirl's Mineral Concealer/Foundation, it truly works to hide those extra baggage under the eyes and a quick spot treatment over smaller breakouts too. I'm so impressed that something this lightweight and smooth can so brilliantly conceal and balance out even the most stubborn of spots. Apparently this Urban Cowgirl concealer can double up as a light foundation as well and still provide full and complete coverage. Normally I would wear foundation during the day to cover up some of these dark spots sprouting up, but I soon realized with a loose dusting of powder and this surprisingly strong and effective concealer, I didn't need to add any more products on top. If you have a few dark spots, or circles too, and need some real, true coverage (without resorting to wearing heavy foundation), this concealer completely does the trick.

When it comes to foundation, I admit, I can be super picky about quality, consistency and coverage. I'm willing to spend a little more on foundation even if the price is a little steep and outside my range. Luckily, however, you don't have to go that far as this foundation is very affordable and performs just as well as some of the more expensive ones I've used. I tried the foundation in #687- which is Light/Medium- and it matched my skin tone so perfectly and so well, I could barely tell where I had it on! The coverage is medium to nice, I still needed a light dusting of powder to achieve truly flawless looking skin, but the overall softness and natural appearance of smooth and sheer looking skin really does come through. I'm amazed that a foundation this affordable can look and feel this soft. On a side note, as the foundation is silky and somewhat liquid-y, do be careful not to dispense too much as I've learned to use a very light touch in handling this tube. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend this foundation to anyone who doesn't want to spend a fortune on makeup, yet still want a lovely and pretty foundation that outperforms some of the best of them!

I'm a totally committed liquid foundation user, so I wasn't a big fan of this dense, creamy formula. It is really thick, so much so that it was hard to blend, and when I was finally able to get even coverage it was caked on pretty thick. Once it set the makeup had a kind of nice, powdery finish which kept my skin looking matte without having to use powder after. It did a pretty good job hiding blemishes, but not so much for smoothing my fine lines. Overall it was a decent foundation, but just way too heavy for my taste.

As a true liquid foundation loyalist, I was not enthused about trying a stick foundation. However it was much easier and faster to apply than my liquid formula, blended beautifully and had a great natural finish. The coverage is buildable, but even after layering it on a bit I still couldn't really tell I was wearing makeup. It didn't really have the coverage or finish you get from a liquid foundation, but if you like a super natural look then you'll love it. Even though it is 70% organic, it still made my face feel dry and itchy, especially on cold, windier days. Overall its a pretty good foundation depending on the look that you prefer, and I think I would like this much better in the summer months, when I tend to go for lighter, breezier makeup.

Josephine says: I actually like stick foundation. It reminds me of that old school Max Factor product that made cream foundations doable (not to mention portable) for pretty much everyone. I commend Vapour for the effort but I am not thrilled with this stuff. I agree with Malikah--the coverage isn't that major thus defeating its purpose, imo. I guess I feel if you like the proverbial natural look than you would do better with a tinted moisturizer, you know? Cream formulations are used for their ability to cover anything and everything flawlessly. I also had trouble matching the shade to my skin tone as in it looked like it was going to work at first glance but blending it at the edges of my face got a little orange and weird. But I want to reiterate that I give the company props for trying to make a "natural" and mostly-organic version of this kind of makeup because Vapour may have paved the way for some killer version of this in the future.

Movie Maven says: Oh man, do I love anything that comes in a push-up stick format. I think this obsession probably sprouted at an early age, when I used to eat Flintstones Push-Up Pops like it was my job. Then, of course, there was the Bonne Bell Lip Smackers Phase of 1988-1992, marked heavily with the bubblegum flavor, interspersed with the occasional Dr. Pepper tube. Once, I even found a facewash in a stick (from Jane Cosmetics; I don’t think they make it anymore, but it was AMAZING and GREEN and smelled like Fresca. I took it on a road trip to Yellowstone National Park. It was awesome.

This obsession with all things in a stick (and on a stick, for that matter – I have never been known to turn down a corn dog) was fully realized when I got to try the Vapour Organic Beauty Foundation Stick. Oh. Man. I love it! It’s so so so easy to apply (even for someone who finds mornings as repellent as a razor sandwich, and is thus always very very TIRED upon applying makeup), and the coverage is great! I feel like it’s probably a more robust coverage than I would normally go for during the day – I like to keep it light – but for nighttime, I would definitely use this sucker. And since it’s a stick, it’s easy to toss in your purse if you’re the kind of girl who likes to touch up. The only thing that stung a little bit with this product was the price – I’m solidly a drugstore-brand girl, and at $38, this guy’s a little pricey. That’s $30 extra I could be spending on shoes, you know! I think if I were regularly spending that much on foundation, I’d definitely give this one a try, but as the cheap chick I am, I won’t go out of my way for this one (no matter how much I love it).

Trish says: Movie Maven has a good point, this is so easy to apply and so handy to take wherever you go, such as the gym, work, school etc ...the price is a little high though, and the coverage I got from the foundation was pretty good, but not as full and complete as my skin would usually need. It did make my skin look nice overall though and smoother, and I was surprised that for a stick mineral foundation, it went on so smoothly without any caking or flakiness...the best parts about the foundation include its versatility and super ease of use...not so great points for me is that while it's pretty even coverage, I still needed some additional powder to create a flawless look. I will say though stick foundations are pretty fun and super convenient to have handy.

Deedlejuse Says: Ok, true story: I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a foundation that I like and works on me. I am able to get copious samples of all the designer brands: Lancome, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, Nars, you name it, I have tried it. And not like one of their types either a couple from each of the ones I have mentioned at least. Nothing was perfect, either the color was weird or it didn't have enough coverage or (my favorite) I thought I loved it then I saw a pic of myself and realized the incredibly shiny faced person smiling in the corner was me. Not a look I cherish, I'll tell you what!

Then I got this stick of Vapour Luminous Foundation, and I'll be the first to admit I like luminous (just there is a line, people!) so I was intrigued. Then I tried it, and now my favorite foundation has been found! Basically the stick thing as much as it sounds like a bad idea, is genius! Its easy to apply, you just smooth over your face and massage it on sort of with your hands. You don't have any waste, because you can't dump a bunch on the back of your hand and then have to throw it out after. The finish is wonderful, you get light to medium coverage (it really tones down redness) with a dewy look, but your not super shiny, or super matte. I think I have to disagree with Movie Maven, I would totally spend $38 on this stick of loveliness, but I think I might have to wait a bit longer and see exactly how long it lasts before I make that qualification! All in all though, I love it!

Sultana says: I have this in #140 which is a little on the dark side for me. I have a really strange complexion & I can never find the right foundation/powder. To achieve a natural look, I have to do a LOT of blending with various shades. Even though the color didn't match my face, I managed to make it work by blending it with my concealer which is a lighter color. It mixes very well with other brands and it builds easy. I like this because it is also light. You don't feel it weighing down your face. I just find it hard to put on foundation on a stick, because at some point you will need a brush or applicator to get in the corners.

I think this may be my current favorite foundation (ever)! I can absolutely see why it won a Shecky's 2009 Beauty At Its Best Award. While being ultra moisturizing for the skin, the coverage is surprisingly amazing and as a result my skin looks super smooth and completely flawless too! The best part is that it feels so lightweight and unbelievably clean, and it still somehow provides maximum coverage at the same time. If you're a fan of tinted moisturizers, but also need little more coverage (hey, who doesn't from time to time, right?), look no further this is the stuff. It wears like the best tinted moisturizer ever, but provides coverage like a super foundation! How completely dreamy.

Hillary says: I too, love this foundation. Unfortunately they sent us a shade that I can only wear when I'm tan (which is practically never), but when I did have a tan a while back I absolutely loved it. Talk about moisturizing! This foundation is full coverage and entirely moisturizing. You could easily mix this with a moisturizer to make a tinted moisturizer. Another bonus about this foundation is that they have a lot of shades which are perfect for Asian skin. So few cosmetics companies pay attention to that entire segment of the population. This is one of those moisturizers I would recommend for, say, your wedding or that important interview. It's just that good. Combine it with the Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Natural Lighting Powder & your face will look flawless!

KohGenDo has lover-ly products from what I can tell. The liquid foundation, for example, is really moisturizing without being the least bit greasy. The color I was given to test was a shade darker than my skin tone so I couldn't get an amazing idea of how great it was because it needed to be blended with something lighter just to wear out of the house but the consistency and the quality of the color are both better than most and that I could tell right off the bat. I don't use a ton of liquid foundation in my life in any capacity, but I will use this in my kit. The price is worth it, too, btw, because a high-quality liquid foundation isn't that easy to find.

Trish Says: Josephine's review of the KohGen Do Aqua Foundation is pretty much right on target for me. I don't usually like wearing thick liquid foundations either, but once in a while my skin needs a little more help and coverage than I'd like to fess up to...here comes in KohGen's foundation. I've tested it a few times, but on this day my skin was not looking its best and the foundation quickly transformed that. I went from blah and splotchy to high gloss and smooth in an instant! I really liked the consistency and how well it blended with my skin. I tried the shade in OC-2, which happened to be the exact match and I'm impressed with how well it performed. Labeled as a High Definition foundation, I noticed that my skin looked even better under super bright fluorescent lights as well as during normal sunlight hours. Being that it's not too heavy nor thick, the foundation provides great coverage without feeling like you're wearing much at all. I think I'm upgrading my perspective on liquid foundations to a much needed necessity - especially if it's the Aqua Foundation by KohGen Do!

I tried this product in the Decadent shade, a rich chocolaty brown that I instantly assumed was way too dark for my medium skin tone. I blended a tiny bit onto my left cheek and to my surprise, it disappeared immediately! I finished the application with just a few drops of the creamy mousse, and there was a barely noticeable hint of coverage. It really looked like I wasn't wearing any makeup, but several of my friends kept remarking on how my face suddenly looked clearer, natural glow. I'm not normally into the natural look, but the effects of the Skin Perfection Gel were apparent to everyone.

The Skin Perfection Gel is also buildable if you want more coverage, so just layer it on. It goes on quite smooth, without looking cakey, but it really doesn't give the level of coverage you would get from a liquid or cream foundation. I'm so used to a more polished, glammed out look with my makeup, so I have to say this wouldn't make it into my everyday beauty routine. However I love it for lazy summer days since it takes just seconds to apply, looks totally natural, lasts all day, and really keeps your skin hydrated while controlling oil.

If you have struggled to find the right foundation, or really just hate the look and feel of heavy formulas, you would fall in love with this. The price tag seems a bit much, but it only took less than a dime sized blob to do my layered look, so this tube will definitely last awhile. And considering its like a color corrector, primer, foundation, and powder, you'd save loads of time and money by not having to use all those other products.

Sultana says: I agree 100% that this is a very good foundation for minimalistic coverage. Due to acne scarring, I need a heavy foundation & powder. However, I tried this underneath my foundation and it worked so beautifully on my oily and acne prone skin.
I have this in the 'Rich' shade. It is a pretty mocha that would be suitable for someone with a medium skin tone.
I love products that shrink your pores and give your skin a matted look. This is great for the summer if you want something extremely light weight. If you sweat a little, you don't have to worry that you will look like you are melting. This comes in a nice sized tube that you can carry with you and touch up through out the day.

Amanda S. Says: I agree with Sultana, I often refuse to leave the house without a heavy foundation and powder, so I wondered how much I'd really use this product. But underneath the foundation it actually really fills in some 'blanks' I've always had an issue with: fading, wearing off, sweating off, etc of powders and foundations. It really gave my foundation a good staying power in this super damp humidity lately. When my skin is agreeable and I feel like I can wear less to mask my skin issues, I think this is also great to wear alone because it gives a nice glow to otherwise bare skin.

Trish Says: I'm a perfectionist. So a product like this speaks closely to my heart! I tried the gel in a clear "Translucent" shade, which for me is the way to go with this primer, perfector, foundation, corrector gel. As directed, I applied the gel after using moisturizer, and noticed right away a sudden airbrushed quality to my skin! Since there's no tinted coverage to the colorless gel - (which I prefer as it is difficult to match my medium-toned skin) - I then followed up with a dusting of powder to finish the look - and wow, I absolutely fell in love with this high gloss, flawless look! No kidding, it looked as if my skin somehow stepped straight out of the pages of a high-fashion glossy and onto the streets of New York, without any Photoshopping on my part either! I'm super happy with the results. I find that the Translucent shade doesn't compete at all with my current powder or foundation, but instead it enhanced the quality of my skin. I'm also pleased with how long it lasted - the glowing and sheer effect stayed on for much of the day for me. Because I found this to be a super glossy, glammed up look, most likely I'll reserve this for special occasions or important events where you really want your skin to look ultra flawless and airbrushed for the cameras at least, as well as for yourself!

Movie Maven says: I hate, hate, hate looking like I'm wearing a lot of makeup - my mother never wears makeup and never has, and although I love to do crazy things with my eyeshadow, I feel like a heavy mask of foundation is not something I can get behind. So this "perfector" gel is great for me, because seriously guys: it doesn't look like you're wearing much, but your skin looks instantly better. On a scale of Rachel McAdams to Morgan Freeman, my pores aren't too bad, but this gel got them one step closer to The Notebook. I just put a little on my cheeks to even everything out, top with powder, and I'm good. My only complaint is that it's a little pricey, and how long it will last remains to be seen, but you really only need a TINY bit to give good coverage. Definitely recommended for ladies who like a flawless look with not a lot of effort or product.

I feel bad, I have been waiting forever to review this tube of "per-fektion" because I just seriously don't like it. The first time I put it on I looked in the mirror and was shocked by how old I looked. I guess if you use powder, concealer, and the whole works and you want to try a less intensive regime you have found your perfect make-up. For those of us who really like to look balmy and natural (think glowing, not covered with powder) this might not be the product for you. I just felt covered, without the coverage I would have wanted from such a product. I know everyone else likes it, but I can't bring myself to!

Josephine says: I agree with Deedlejuse. I, too, have dragged my heels on this review because the first time I tried it I wasn't into it at all and I thought it might have been the time and place so to speak but when I picked it up again a few weeks later I had the same blah experience with it. It might be that it just does not work with my skin type. The consistency is hard to work with though as not a sponges or synthetic brush seems to be able to spread it well on one's skin. As a plus, it is really lightweight which may be appealing to some and it appears to be all you need if you're a super-simple minimalist grrrl.

Melissa says: I tried the skin perfection gel in Decadent. I was a bit hesitant because I don't like putting foundation or concealer on my face. At first, I thought it was going to be too dark for my skin and just make me look unnatural. That was not the case! It went on so smooth and effortlessly. Even though it is a gel, I didn't expect that type of texture since it is a colored product. It acted as a good base and it it did help touch up some of the dark circles under my eyes and my uneven skin tone here and there. I could also tell that my skin was moisturized and nice and soft. I also love that it's so small that I can take it with me. Plus, I don't have to worry about this everything breaking on my like my last powder!

I love this palette! With it I can create the correct shade of concealer or foundation for almost anyone. When I first got this, I decided to do a little experiment. I wanted to see if this makeup would look as good at both the beginning and end of the evening on myself and my 70 year old mother. The application is a breeze. I used a foundation brush and I could paint on more where more coverage was needed and less... well you get the picture. I was struck by how little concealer was required to do a whole face. This stuff spreads like a dream. Looking at it in the palette you would think it had a thick dense consistency, but once you start using it you realize it is only dense in pigment. It feels weightless on and it didn't settle into any of my mother's wrinkles (she's 70, she knows she has wrinkles!). It gave a slightly dewier finish than I like, so I set it with powder. I'm pleased to report that both my mother and I still had full faces of makeup after an evening at the Atlantic City casinos. I was really impressed with the staying power of this multi-function cream. This is already a staple in my professional makeup kit. It takes half the guesswork out of applying foundation because for some reason, the shades are universally flattering. You can also buy the individual colors in compacts for $22.50 or in 3 shade trios (with larger amounts of color) for $67.50. The trio has individual refills available for $17.50. I recommend this palette to any professional makeup artist as it is an ultimately portable way to have hundreds of possible colors at your fingertips. Plus you save by having your concealer and foundation in one.

As I've mentioned before, I'm studying to become a makeup artist. Graftobian foundation is an absolute staple in many professional makeup artist's kits. You can vary the coverage anywhere from sheer to opaque and the cream doubles as a concealer. Oh and did I mention it's HD quality? When a makeup is HD quality, it means it does it's job better than can be seen with the naked eye. I've seen my everyday makeup on an HD camera and even though I feel it looks good, it looks just awful on the HD screen. *Makeup tip- If you are going somewhere where you will be filmed or photographed in HD, do not use mineral based makeup. Something in the makeup comes out as grey flecks when shot in HD.* In addition to using these creams as foundations, I use a concealer brush and apply them as foundation. It covers under eye circles beautifully. If you are a makeup artist or plan in being one, you must check out the various Graftobian palettes.

The foundations are broken down into cool tones, warm tones and neutral tones. Every shade comes in a variety of packages- singles, 5 packs of like colors and the Super Palettes of 18 colors in one color family. If you just can't seem to find the color or coverage you need, try a Graftobian palette and you'll be able to mix a custom color for yourself. If you don't know if you are a warm, cool or neutral tone, try taking something pure yellow up to your face, then try something pure red (no blue or orange undertones to it). If the yellow matches your undertones, you are a cool tone, the red- warm and if they both look equally good, you are neutral (%75 of people are warm). BTW, you can't just get the neutral palette and use it on everyone if you want a true match. I've tried it and it doesn't work.

Overall, I love these palettes and they are going to be the basis for my entire pro makeup kit. As a color runs out, I can refill the space by buying an individual pot of that foundation @ $11.99 @ Graftobian.

Every now and again, I'll find a drugstore product to rave about. The last time I did this was with Cover Girl's Lash Blast. I would say about this foundation...RUN don't walk to your nearest CVS and buy it. Buy it all. This foundation at it's lovely price on sale for under $10 DELIVERS. You would think your were applying a Chanel or Armani - but no....it's just lil' ol' Sally Hansen, and this foundation is a winner. Goes on smooth and creamy - color blends RIGHT in and after few minutes you don't even feel like you're wearing anything - yet your face looks airbrushed and natural. It also lasts the day without caking, flaking or looking/feeling like a mask. I can not believe that this foundation is from a drugstore. I have put away the Illuminare for now so that I can continue to be in blissful shock about how much I love this product. Now, you may not find a perfect color as they don't have as many as say Prescriptives or something, but if you do find a match (for me, it's Ecru beige) I really think you will love this foundation. For the price (and the return policy of CVS) it is sooo worth you checking it out. A sure-fire winner.

Based completely upon Maria’s review I headed over to Rite-Aid in search of this gem. I think Carmindy is a great makeup artist; I even have her book The 5 minute face. I have yet to perfect the on the go look like she does but I am trying. I have never been a fan of Sally Hansen; I remember trying her leg spray a couple of years ago to end up finding it rubbed all over my car seats and to this day is still faintly apparent. I am a huge fan of Armani’s foundation! So when a product that is only $10 I can’t go wrong... I did find that the color selections are limited but I was able to scoop up the porcelain and it is the best match for me. I totally love my first few days of use. It is very cream and absorbs into your skin making it look better than before and very natural. The coverage is light to medium depending on application and it wears wonderfully throughout the day. This is a MUST for all gals! It is even great on hot days; I don’t find that it melts... OMG! Thanks for finding this diamond in the rough... Also check out Sally Hansen for printable coupon too!

Sheba says I thought I read these reviews thoroughly but no, I didn't. Now - after I ran around looking for this foundation -- I see that there are coupons available. Well, that teaches me -- I have to pay more attention. I did run out to find this foundation based on Maria and Cityslicker's reviews. Guess what -- they are so right! You do not really need a large selection of colors. I discovered that I might be able to wear maybe 3 -- possibly more. It is so strange -- I had this experience with Avon. I picked various shades and asked friends to help me select. They picked one and I tried the others to be sure. They said -- gee, all of them blend in and they are so completely different. I guess I just have a face that thirsts for foundation and for some unknown reason even darker or lighter colors (not several shades off) will work for me. Never mind my weirdness -- this foundation is incredible. Unlike Cityslicker - I have had excellent luck with Sally Hansen -- however, I will admit I never used the leg spray and I am going to take Cityslicker's word on that. This line intrigued me as it is inspired by Carmindy and she works wonders with make up. Well, she knows her foundation for sure. It is hard to believe you can get such a great foundation for the price (even without a coupon). It applies very easily and smoothly and gives you the airbrushed look that Maria mentioned. You do not look like you are 'made up'. You look natural -- but enhanced. Maria also mentioned that it has longevity and she is not kidding - it lasts. You will be very glad you invested in this foundation and your face will show its appreciation! It is a small price to pay for such a terrific foundation.

Have you ever had that moment with a beauty product when it hits you: this is what using X is supposed to be like? Well I have finally had that moment with this Nvey Echo Organic Moisturizing Liquid Foundation. Not only is this foundation organic, and natural but it is also the exact perfect shade for me ( I have shade 510, the palest) and it glides on so you would never know that I’m wearing make-up. I don’t like a lot of coverage, just touch-ups at the problem areas like cheeks and chin where I tend to get a bit too rosy so this fluid foundation is exactly what I needed. It is sort of a thin consistency that basically turns directly into a powder on my skin and doesn’t stay thick and creamy making it noticeable. It is sort of like a stain, instead of a cream but it really covers up problem areas. I would say that if you prefer the creamier side of things you might want to mix with your face cream before application. I find it is best applied with fingers, my brushes all make it a little streaky. The smell is the best part for me. I think it smells like rose (and as it turns out absolute rose is used in production.) This very well could be my all time favorite product I have ever used. I certainly recommend giving it a try!

For some reason I received this foundation in both Matte 111 and Matte 1. I didn't actually realize this until tonight as I was actually writing about it. What I used was the Matte 1 as a foundation and the Matte 111 as a sort of powder. I am in love. If you noticed my post yesterday, I adore this line of makeup. The look is more than natural, just touching up red spots and problem areas. My complexion is quite good, so I don't feel the need to cover up completely. Just touches here and there do the trick, as long as I have applied an adequte face cream. This foundation allows me to do this perfectly. I have never really used mineral before, I think I might have reviewed one for this blog, but I wasn't in love, so this was an exciting revelation. If you haven't tried mineral before, I would reccomend giving it a try. At least I am sold!

Sheba says: I have used and have been using mineral make up for a while and I have to say Giselle Mineral Foundation is up there with the best of them and at a very minimal cost. I am not as lucky as Deedlejuse with my complexion -- I need a lot of help. I like to blur the lines of reality if you get my meaning. Yes, I like to soften the appearance of shall I call them smile lines-- around my mouth and even my eyes. Yes, when I smile - my eyes smile too!! I don't expect much -- I want to look natural -- but without the appearance of lines, etc.!!! I want all of this without cosmetic surgery or botox. So I tried this $20 mineral foundation and I have to say I am pleased with the look. I attained a very natural look with a definite minimizing of the appearance of the lines. I have to admit that I did use some concealer with the foundation and that really helps the foundation work its miracles. So Giselle Mineral Foundation is a foundation for those of us like Deedlejuse with a flawless complexion as well as for those of us with a flawed complexion and for anyone in between. It does help enhance your complexion -- whatever type of skin you might have.

CitySlicker Says: I got this in Matte II. I am very fair and usually lean towards the lightest shade in foundation palettes. The matte II looks like it’s a bronzer without the mica in it, the color is lovely but isn’t a match for my skin at all. I have tried to utilize as a foundation but the effects made me look terrible, the color is way too dark for me. The only way I can use this is as a blush/ bronzer. I can apply a very small amount and get a lovely shade that blends with my skin. I also like the fact that it’s not really shimmery. I think this give my skin a healthy glow and doesn’t look like I am overdoing it with the color. This just didn’t work for me as a foundation at all.

Sheba says: I'm back. I have to admit that I asked CitySlicker to let me try her shade. Yes, it is too dark for me. . . but then remember that I am the mixer!! I mixed it with a lighter shade and vavoom -- it looks great and blends right in. My skin is sort of medium so I thought I might be able to use it and I am so glad that I tried it. I love Giselle products and found another foundation that works for my skin!!

Joyce says: I got to play with mineral foundation (Matte IV--Medium), face powder, bronzer, and blush. I love the natural look and easily get it with these products. They brush on smoothly with excellent coverage on my skin, but it just looks like great skin. I also don’t like to take a lot of time to apply cosmetics. You can’t get any faster than powders. Another benefit is that mineral powders are good for the skin, which is great since I sometimes fall asleep and stay asleep with them on. But you know, I don’t have a problem with looking good when I wake up. Is there a Giselle Girl Fan Club?

Honestly, I can't believe I haven't written about this foundation sooner! This is my absolute end-all, be-all product for my face. This foundation is the holy grail of foundations. It covers completely without looking like a mask and stays in place all day. It is so good that I often don't have to use concealer on imperfections that I would have to conceal with other foundations. Add on to that the fact that it has an SPF of 25 and you've got the ideal foundation. Keep in mind that this is medium to full coverage, so if you're used to a tinted moisturizer, this will afford more coverage, but it doesn't really add any weight. It's a little pricey, but it only takes 2 pumps to cover my whole face and I've been using the same bottle for months. Rather than meander through tons of drug store foundations, try this one and you'll find it's worth the investment.

Review - Nixie Cream Foundation

I got this in Ivory 3 when I initially looked at it, there really is nothing Ivory about it, I found that it looks more beige to me. I am usually very pale but thanks to my new airbrushed spray tan, I have color so I was able to use this color due to the tan. If I was going commando with no tan then it would be to dark for me. This is very easy to apply with a foundation brush. OMG, it absorbs into my skin completely and really gives my skin a very even tone. It leaves my skin with a semi matte finish and I don’t really need to finish with a powder so I have been just using a bronzer for a healthy sheen. I NEED to get this in my normal color tone! I really like this foundation. The lightness of it reminds me of Vincent Longo’s Water Canvas and the coverage is like Make Up Forever’s Mat Velvet. I wore it in very humid weather and even though I was sweating to death it didn’t separate from my face, sometimes foundation just drips off in the hot weather this became one with my skin, for the one reason it’s worth looking into! Great product and completely affordable, I encourage all to check their site out!

I am the absolute palest of the pale, so I had no problem choosing my shade for this foundation. I simply chose the lightest. This foundation is an acne or discoloration haver's dream come true. It provides complete coverage without looking mask-like. I'll admit I was a bit heavy handed when I first put this cream on with a sponge as I don't usually use a sponge, but when I tried it again with a foundation brush and it worked perfectly. Totally covered the redness around my nose and the dark circles under my eyes. I didn't even have to spot cover anything. It's oil and paraben free to boot. This foundation has several ingredients to improve your skin such as squalane, vitamin E and hydrolyzed collagen. As an added bonus, all Nixie products are cruelty free and made in the U.S.A. I've loved every Nixie item I've tried. I highly recommend checking them out.

I hate to sound like everyone else but this stuff is terrific. I actually did select a very good match for my skin tone - Ivory 7. I applied with a foundation brush as I am now very used to working with them. The results are incredible. You really do not need any concealer with this product and that is a miracle to me. My whole face usually needs concealer here and there. This covers all problem areas without that heavy look. It is a bit more visible than my usual 'mineral' look but it still appears pretty natural. It does give a matte look which I find to be very nice and soft. I seriously think that no one will need to go heavy with this foundation as it covers everything so well with just a light touch. I think I am actually wearing less foundation than when I use my mineral - as I use a concealer and a tone corrector, etc. under the foundation. I simply apply my moisturizer as I always do and go right to this foundation. Foundation is the perfect word or description of this. It leaves you with the perfect foundation/base to build upon. You can then apply your blush, lip, and eye products to a flawless looking face. I believe that I am going to need to make sure I have much more of this miracle worker in my make up arsenal. It is a superior product and it shows and feels like one.

I might as well hop on the Nixie love bandwagon with the caveat that I ordered the wrong shade for my skintone - I'm usually a level two in everything (fair skin/yellow to neutral undertones) but the Natural 2 was a smidge too dark - HOWEVER - that being said, as soon as I tried it, I went right to the Nixie sight to scout around for a foundation shade that would be more of a match -- it's just really, really nice. It gives you a perfect canvas to apply everything else - and everything else goes on as smooth as silk - leaving you with a "hey, I look pretty dang good" face. This is what I wished MAC's Studio Fix was but wasn't - so THERE, MAC - who needs ya?!! I applied with a Lancome Foundation brush - that application method worked really well for me. Last but not least - can you say VERY affordably priced???? Way to go,Nixie.

See, I tried this cream foundation with all the hopes and dreams listed above, but I didn't find it worked as well on me. I tried it on a friend and she had results she loved, but for some reason, on my skin, it clumped a little and went on too thick for my liking and seemed to streak a little, and I don't have oily skin (maybe my skin was a little too dry? I dunno). Anyway, it seems like everyone else had a great time with it, so there's a quality there that I missed out on. Give it a shot though if you like good coverage because my friend really liked it.

This foundation is really heavy duty, when you go on their website you will notice that "camera ready finish" is the selling point. Well, I'm 24, I don't have wrinkles, acne, scars, or really any major imperfections of that kind. So it was really just too much for me. I used it as a concealer on a little red spot on the bridge of my nose, and it was more than enough coverage for spot control. The color I chose (Ivory 1) would be perfect for me in the winter, but I'm a little sun-kissed right now, so it was just a little too pale. Perhaps thats why I felt like I had so much make-up on, even though I mixed it with a light moisturizer to thin it a bit. Personally I don't need that kind of all encompassing foundation, so next time I'm going to try the Even Skin Mousse Foundation, which looks a little less intimidating to me. I love the Nixie stuff, and this would have been awesome if I was in a play or something, but for everyday I thought it was a bit much.

Review- I really like this cream base. I don’t usually like cream bases because of how heavy they can feel on the skin . . . as though I’m wearing a mask (as some of my fellow bloggers wrote). Nixie’s is light, yet the coverage is both good and natural-looking. I also found it did well in blending my under-eye circles with the rest of my face (rather than reverse raccoon eyes that can happen with some concealers). I can say it didn’t block my pores or cause any unpleasant dermatology issues. In fact, I loved how my skin looked when I wore it – as though it was just my skin. Ivory 3 was a perfect match for my skin tone: mix between ivory and olive. I’ve been a mineral powder aficionado for years, but I find I grab this product first. I usually don’t wear heavier foundations but with the warm weather coming I started to notice my skin was looking a little oily from the sunscreen I switched to so I decided to give this a go... There are a good number of choices to pick from so there is a shade for everyone. I am happy with my choice. This is a thick foundation that is easy to apply. I use a foundation brush for an even coverage. I think this requires more blending to spread out and into the skin. I want a natural finish... I wanted the matte finish to counteract the oiliness from the sunscreen and it’s doing a great job. The finish isn’t china doll matte but matte enough to not show shine... I think it’s more of a natural finish. My skin feels like it breathes and isn’t masked under makeup like some heavier foundations can. I think this is an all day foundation; I never have to touch up... It’s apply & go and it’s there when I get home!

I was on the hunt for a new foundation. I wear sunscreen everyday and need a foundation that can go over and stay on. I also get shiny / oily looking from the sunscreen so I decided to go with something heavier than I normally wear. I am finding that along with the sunscreen, this is providing me with a semi matte finish. I use less of this and blend more so I don’t feel like I have a lot on. It’s getting warmer and I want to have a natural finish also. I think this is a great foundation; it’s easy to blend and has a very smooth finish. I am finishing with a mineral veil to keep it light to. I totally notice a different the shiny throughout the day so this is working for me. It doesn't feel heavy on either.

Review - L'Oreal Paris Infallible make-up

THIS, this stuff... this is my foundation. The bottle says "never fail makeup" and they mean it. When I just can't stand my skin, when it's got a rash (I have an illness that gives me an ugly red rash across my cheeks and sometimes my forehead), or even when I just feel blotchy or have a bad breakout, this foundation goes on easily and covers EVERYTHING. Not only that, it matches my skin perfectly (there are a lot of shades!) and it stays on throughout my entire day, whether I'm walking through the city in the sweaty summer, working out, or just going to work. When I use mineral powder over it, the cover up power is even stronger. So if you're having an unbearable breakout, or are just used to having foundation on and rely on it, this is absolutely the one to use. It has great sunblocking power to protect your skin from the sun, and a little bottle is cheap (about 13 bucks) and lasts forever. I am willing to try others out, but this is hands down my favorite, and has been for several years.

I am sorry that there is no image to show, I use 01 which in person is more ivory looking. This foundation has been a staple in my bag since the summer. I don’t tan so I use the same shade all year. The foundation is a medium coverage so I use very little. I tend to really try to blend it into my skin. I think it does a great job of keeping my face fresh looking and youthful. I have never had any adverse reaction and there is no scent (YEAH). I have to mention this too, it’s easy to apply over sunscreen. I don’t feel like I look like an oil slick as anyone who wears sunscreen knows you have to have a good foundation to go over. I highly recommend this and will re-buy when the time comes!

This pretty much my holy grail of foundation. I love it. I am into a light coverage that evens me out and leaves my skin looking natural. I can describe it like Vincent Longo's Water Canvas - it's a water based foundation that feels cool to the touch and melts into the skin so the application is seamless. The finish is natural also. I got sucked into this line when hitting Barney's for one of the beauty events. I allowed the rep to apply and instantly was sold then asked the price. YIKES! I have been a faithful fan of the line since 2005. I am not faithful to this foundation though; I do use others too, but keep this in the arsenal. The nice thing is that the compact is refillable and the refills are $70.00. I find this has little to no scent and works well with my sensitive skin, it's so light that it's like a mineral foundation without the talc. This comes with a sponge applicator but I don't use it, I am a brush girl and this goes on just as well with a brush as it does with a sponge and the brush is easier to clean, in my opinion. The color match is dead on for me also. Enjoy!
