Review- Lush Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub

Coconut Cream and Sea Salt Scrub... Back in 2005, our inventors had come up with a number of fantastic cleansers but there was one category they had yet to conquer: The scrub! A sea salt scrub! With that, they whipped up (our now enormously popular) Ocean Salt. Washing with Ocean Salt is like taking your face on a trip to the seaside for an invigorating splash in the water. We mix in fresh avocado and coconut to hydrate thirsty skin, while the antibacterial effects of lime and vodka is ideal for blocked pores, blackheads or blemishes. The minerals in sea salt soften as it scrubs away dirt and blockages.

When it comes to salt scrubs - I simply adore them. And this Lush Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub has been love at first use! There is a beautifully crusted layer of ocean salt on top, and below, is the creamiest face and body cleanser one could I imagine! It's made with a highly moisturizing mix of coconut and avocado and the ocean salt purifies so gently and deeply. If I could buy tubs of this that would be near paradise for me! Of all the different kinds of bath body scrubs I've tried, this ranks as one of my very favorites - it is highly moisturizing, deeply cleansing, and created with quality ingredients- the kind of scrub that makes you feel like you're pampered to the fullest! As a fan of salt scrubs, this is a sure keeper!

I'm not usually a salt scrub fan, but after giving this one a try, I may have to revise my opinon.  Okay, not my whole opinion.  I just like this one.  I like it because it doesn't sting when I use it on my face and when I use it on my body I still feel clean afterwords, not filmy nor greasy, just clean and moisturized.  Plus the smell reminds me of every beach vacation I've ever had.  I credit this scrub with getting rid of the uneven skin on my chest after I recently got a bit of a tan on my chest in Mexico (I tried my hardest not to).  This scrub is the perfect combination of creamy and coarse for the body, some may find it a bit harsh for the face, but then again, my favorite face scrub is derma e microdermabrasion scrub and that stuff doesn't fool around!   I like the fact that the jar says who lovingly packaged my scrub with a little picture of him, too.  I haven't used that many Lush products, but this one I would buy again.

Being that I'm not rolling around in the sand at the beach all summer, nor am I doing anything extra to get that perfect sun-kissed tan, this Whish Sugar Scrub is definitely making up for my lack of a glow! After just one use, I noticed right away that my skin looked so much brighter and clearer, and now I remember what my dull looking skin looked like before the scrub. I tried this all organic and natural sugar scrub in Lavender and the scent was absolutely swoon worthy! There's no skimping here on scent, quality or effectiveness. The consistency is really nice thick and rich, and the sugar granules contained aren't too fine nor too coarse, just the right amount exfoliation needed to get gorgeous glowing skin and fast. The best part to me is that the scrub holds up really well, it's not slippery nor drippy, but deeply moisturizing and makes my skin much silkier by far. I figure since we can't beat this heat, well, might as well join it and show some skin that looks and feels just as bright and glistening in this very hot summery heat. This Whish Sugar Scrub is a real go in my opinion!

Review - Jo Malone Vitamin E Body Treatment Scrub

I must begin this post by telling everyone that I actually work for Jo Malone, I just started so I was given 5 pieces from the line to try. (i.e. get a job for Jo Malone, it is sooooooooo worth it!!!) While this body scrub is expensive ($75) you get 21oz of it! Seriously, 21oz of this body scrub will last you at least six months to a year. It is a huge tub of amazing smelling wonderfulness. Seriously, it smells like sugar cookies. I love it.
The body scrub really is a lovely consistency, it uses sugar instead of salt, which I like because the granules sort of melt while you scrub yourself. Which means that it isn't too abrasive or harsh. The vitamin E really gets into your skin and you are left with plump, beautiful, smooth feeling skin that is slightly fragrant and super moisturized. This is my favorite body treatment (and not just because I work for Jo!) and while it is a bit more expensive than I would normally want to spend on a body scrub I could totally envision myself requesting it as a Christmas present next year!

I was lucky enough to actually test out two of these.. I have the Awaken and the reactivate.. I got generous 5 oz tubs.. I do love a good body scrub and this is surely one to boast about.. They are both rich and thick upon application. If you are using in the shower turn off the water so nothing gets rinsed away and wasted. It's too precious to waste! I like to slather all over my body rinse then come back and shave the stems. It makes for the perfect shower shave and still leaves my skin SUPER soft and smooth. The scrub isn't rocky or rough.. It's a finely milled salt that really tackled all of my rough spots - knees, ankles & elbows.. I also really like to use on my hand to exfoliate the cuticles, the oils leave behind a really soft hand too..

The scents are nice blends.. They are both difficult for me to pull apart.. Awaken is a light floral with a little stronger undertone that I like but can't figure it out.. I am sorry my nose doesn't know. The Reactivate is a little stronger and smells like there is a little camphor in it with a touch of musk.. I also found that they don't leave my body all perfumey after use.. I don't have to use any body moisturizer after use either.. These are both worth the $28. I was able to get a couple of uses from each and I only have 5oz of each.. You'll love the lightness of the oil and how your body feels enveloped in softness after use..

Sheba says I have been using the Arbonne Awaken Sea Salt Scrub for over a week now and I love it. I totally agree with City Slicker that it is impossible to describe the actual fragrance to the Awaken. It does have a light floral scent -- but do not ask me what flower!! It is light enough that it does not overpower you and it fades away in time for you to use your choice of scent for the day. The scrub is very gentle - yet effective. My elbows, and other rough areas actually feel nice and smooth when I am done. They are not red or irritated as some scrubs have left them. My skin feels very soft and moisturized when I am done. I am betting that I could do without moisturizer after use -- but I do put a light application on. Now that winter seems to finally be leaving us -- I may not feel the need to apply the moisturizer after using this scrub. This winter has taken its toll on my skin and I can use all the moisture that I can get for now. I know I am frugal -- but I have been using this one jar for over a week and I still have a little left. I know I am using enough as my skin is luminous and feels terrific. This is a great find!!

Amanda S. Says: What a beautiful product! My skin is a silly flaky mess from the winter, like Sheba said, and this product helped resuscitate me from the brink of horror. Unlike some scrubs, the texture is near perfect, I had no fear of shredding myself a little too much, and it wasn't too meek either (which is so depressing, when you shell out for a scrub and it scrubs NOTHING at all, you know?). It smells delicious and as I'm typing this, I'm wondering why I'm not languishing in the bath using it again. I've actually just bought this to give to a friend for her birthday, that's how much I love it, sincerely.

Deedlejuse Says: Umm, I guess me four! I really enjoyed trying these body scrubs. I found them much richer than normal body scrubs. I don't know what kind of oil they use in this scrub, but whatever it is they should bottle it and sell it without the sea salt! Although the scrubs should be available too, it's just that the oil is scrumptious! I enjoyed both scents, but have to say I love the Reactivate more than the awaken, I didn't notice any camphor like Cityslicker did, only a really lovely ambery relaxing scent. This scrub has made quick work of scruffing off all the bumps and flakes the winter has caused. I love it, and will definitely repurchase this wonderful scrub.

Maria says: I truly don't know what more raves I can add for this product. It is all what the girls say above. I first tried this product at a demo at my sister's house and the Arbonne rep brought each of us over to the sink, applied the Awaken scrub, rubbed it in then rinsed it off of our arms. I swear, none of us could stop touching our arms the entire night - my WORD but were they soft! Plus the fragrance...it's a DREAM. Did I buy it that night? Well, DUH??? Of COURSE I did! I love it. Love this scrub - probably one of the best I've used. Bonus for me, b/c I still had my HUGE tub of it from when I ordered it from the demo I was at - but now I've got a brand new one for when my tub runs out. YEA! It is a great exfoliator as well - put a little on your loofah and have a field day - such soft, touchable, loveable skin, with no ouchies like some other scrubs might have. Really, sincerely, Arbonne nailed it with these scrubs. A must, must try.

Hillary says: I didn't read these rave reviews above before I used my scrub (Awaken) so I had a really pleasant surprise on my hands (elbows, legs- you get the picture). When Arbonne says "scrub" they really mean it. I don't think there was a dry, dull patch left in my county, nevermind on myself. And the fragrance is divine. It reminds me a lot of the scent of Fresh's Sugar Scrub but at half the price. I also had anticipated having to clean the tub for an hour due to how rich in oils this scrub is, but I'm happy to report it didn't make my tub slippery at all (and I'm not really sure how that happened). That fact alone makes me want to use it every time I shower. I recommend getting a loofah or a mitt like Maria said because I was using my hand and I know I was wasting more than I cared to. I want to use this container for all it's worth. It's just that good.

Review- Ahava Mineral Botanic Micro-Peeling Cream Body Wash

This creamy, exfoliating body wash in Waterlily/Guarana has a fresh slightly floral scent but (and I see this as a plus) it is understated enough that it doesn't stick around to compete with your perfume. Personally I can't use a wash or soap that's too strongly scented if it's not the same fragrance as my perfume. But I digress. This wash takes a little getting used to as it has no harsh detergents and doesn't lather much. It exfoliates well using olive and apricot seed powder but I expected something a little more scrub-like from something labelled "micro-peeling". However this wash was designed to be used on even sensitive skin, so taking that into consideration, it does a great job.This particular formula (there are 7 in the line) is for normal-to-dry skin and as someone with dry skin I can say this leaves my skin feeling refreshed and moisturized. Overall, I would say that if you are looking for a body wash which offers exfoliation, moisturization and is paraben, SLS and SLES free, this is a great one.

Amanda S. Says: SLS & SLES Free is music to my ears! That stuff can really dry out your skin, and as a side note to anyone that gets dermatitis, THIS stuff can be the culprit (it hides in all sorts of products, even toothpaste!). I really loved this body wash, it is actually maybe one of my favorites and sure, it's true it doesn't lather much, but it really made me feel squeaky clean. The part that really got me was what it lacked: I didn't end up feeling itchy all over and my skin lacked the tightness I often get trying new shower/body washes and gels. The exfoliation was nice, not too harsh, but I definitely noticed a difference in the texture of my skin after using this for a little over 10 showers. I'd highly recommend this for sensitive skin.

I just happened upon this Wild Mint Lime Coarse Salt Scrub on EBay by chance. I love anything Lime so I bid on it and won it at an incredible price. This is definitely one of my favorite scrubs. The consistency is coarse as the name suggests -- but a very mild coarse. It is very easy to use as it spreads very nicely as you apply it. It is a very gentle scrub and does exfoliate well and leaves your skin feeling so soft, silky and regenerated. I did not get a Lime scent from it. It is a very light fresh scent but I really could not pick up the mint or lime that much, which is really fine. It comes in other delicious fragrances which you might want to try. I think I use quite a bit for a shower - but the jar is not going down very fast so it certainly does last. My skin feels wonderful after using it as it does not dry it out while exfoliating. It leaves you feeling nice and invigorated.

Review - Yu-Be Foaming Skin Polish

I got 2 small sample packs of this and if you saw them you too would think, you would get a little more than a hands worth of the body done with these sample packets so I used them on my face. I had high hopes for this since I love the other Yu-Be products I have. This polish is oozy and messy; I thought it reminded me of an apricot scrub, I could see the big grains suspended within. I thought that it was too harsh on my face. I am spoiled and used to polishes that have a finer grain that feels almost massaging on my skin. This polish would be better suited for the body and not face. I don’t think there are many products that are for face and body that actually perform well for both. After using my face was red and raw feeling, I didn’t over do the exfoliation either, it just didn’t agree with my face.

Sheba says: Aha, perhaps with age comes a tougher facial skin!! I have been using this for the past couple of days and found it to scrub, clean, and exfoliate my face well. It did leave my face a tiny bit pink but it felt good, not uncomfortable. My face then drank up moisturizer which is suggested by the Yu-Be Foaming Skin Polish. I have to agree with Cityslicker that I have found very few products that work for both the face and body. I would personally prefer this skin polisher for my body. It seems much better suited for that. It did work for my face but I did have that pink to it. I will be using the remainder of it for body polishing. Tender facial skin may very well react like Cityslicker's experience. So, you might be better off just using it to polish up the body rather than the face.

Joyce says: My experience was different from my co-posters. I really appreciate someone combining a face and body scrub into one product gentle enough for one, effective enough for both. I love the scent and the idea of exfoliating and stimulating skin with rice bran, bamboo, ginger, ginseng, green tea (we know how healing that is for skin), and camphor. My more mature skin loves when I use this product, and I love how smooth my skin feels, forehead-to-toes.

Who doesn’t love a quick fix? I surely do! I don’t get my nails done on a regular basis, but for special occasion type of things. My nails are short and I always attempt to keep them groomed and polished with a clear or neutral shade. This is a little gift from the gods; the scent is a perfect combo of the ginger, mint and lemon. It sounds strange but they all blend together well. You get 2 ounces and that isn’t a lot but a little goes a long way. I suggest that you apply and use it over a towel or the sink. I sat in front of the boob tube and the next thing I knew I had sloughed it all over the floor! So I dip my index finger in the jar once and that is enough for both hands. I worked it into my nails first then scrubbed my hands. Once the water touched my hands I could feel a difference. OMG, my hands feel amazing. They are velvety powdery soft after use. This really helps get rid of the dry cuticles too! I have been using it 2x a week and will buy again. It’s so quick, painless and easy! Great product!

I am always on the lookout for cuticle, hand, and/or nail products that work. After reading City Slicker's review I could not resist. I found myself at the website placing an order. She is not exaggerating. . . the fragrance is heavenly. It is a pleasure to use it. It is so darn easy to use and you just need that tiny bit she suggests to accomplish the job. Your hands will seriously reward you for using Carol's Daughter Lemon Ginger Mint Manicure in a Jar. You will see and feel the difference after you use it. They are so silky soft and powdery that I hardly recognize my own hands. This is definitely one of the best products I have used for my hands and I will continue to use it. The cost is definitely worth it when you see the difference.

Review - M.B. Carey Scrub

There is, to be sure, a lot to like about Carey Ingredients' salt scrub. It's made with all natural ingredients, it's moisturizing, and it really does work to scrub away the dead layers of skin. However, the main issue I have is that it's extremely difficult to apply. Although it has natural oils in it, the scrub itself is the consistency of coarse sand, the sand right between the wet sand and the dry sand. Because it's relatively dry, you have to dole out just the right amount to make sure it actually sticks to your body and does its job. The other thing is the scent. It comes in three: Citrus and Spice, which sounds lovely, Lavender/Mint, which might be nice, and Patchouli/Pine, which I got. It smells like Santa's workshop, if all of the elves in Santa's workshop were hippies. Let's just say that you really need to like pine to like this scent. Like...REALLY. All in all, it's a fine product, and is, in fact, quite functional, but sadly the pine was too overpowering for me. Maybe a man would like this scent better?

Why, oh why, didn't I pick the Citrus and Spice???? I have the Lavender and Mint - and to say I am not a Lavender fan is putting it mildly. I think the scrub does work wonderfully. I noticed that I had to hold it in my hand(s) under water for a few seconds to get it to the right consistency to really do its job. Once I had that down pat I found that it did exfoliate the dead cells very nicely and left smooth, silky skin. However, the fragrance was enough to knock me out. It is very strong -- perhaps I just thought it was strong as I do not really care for Lavender. I did get some of the mint but the Lavender just flooded my senses. I bet I would love that effect with the Citrus and Spice so I am not going to make a harsh judgement on the scent. The company cannot be blamed for me having the wrong scent for my nose. I realize I am an exception - Lavender is a favorite scent among a lot of the population and those people will probably fall in love with this scrub in the Lavender and Mint scent. I think I will remember that anything citrus is good for me. Now I need to track down the Citrus and Spice and I will be all set.

I picked the Patchouli and Pine Scrub from this company. The smell was alright, it was super natural and very earthy. If you respect Patchouli for it's healing and relaxing properties, or you just love Patchouli (yes there are those out there who just love that smell) this is the scent for you. The pine adds a very nice acid, to make it super spicy. Honestly I also had an issue with how spicy it was, and I love spicy soaps, so just make sure your up for it. The salt itself was really just that: bath salts with essential oils added to them. I had a really hard time making it stick to me, and found it difficult to find how much exactly was the perfect amount. It did leave my skin quite soft, but I think I wasted a lot of product trying to get it to stick to me. On a side note: I tried using it on my face to see what would happen, and it was really abrasive and almost painful, and I don't have particularly sensitive skin. Stick to feet, elbows, and knees for this scrub!

Review- I have the Lavender-Mint which contains oils, essential oils of lavender, peppermint, plus dried lavender. I like the spa-like scent and sensation of this coarse salt, and that I feel I just treated myself to something special when I use it. It left my skin feeling clean and tingly. I did not use it on my face; and I advise that if you intend to use the salt and shave your legs, use the salt first. I did it the other way around. Nothing drastic or long-lasting happened, but salt on such open pores is not the sensation most of us seek. When I want to make sure my skin is quite touchable, I make sure I use this product during my bath.

Review - Plum Island Soap Orange Ginger Scrub

This scrub, a delightfully large container of delicious orange and ginger coarse salt, is more salt than anything else. It's a bit drier than other scrubs I've used, which means it doesn't adhere very well to whatever body part (in my case, feet) on which you opt to use it. It was falling all over my tub and leaving semi-terrifying reddish splotches everywhere. Don't worry, they came out easily. The parts I did get to work on my feet really did work, though - the orange oil in the formula softens and scents, and the coarse salt, not for the faint of heart, scrubbed away at my often-tired feet. And the scent - ah, the scent! So lovely. Not too strong, but citrusy and spicy at just the right level. My suggestion: if you're planning on getting this, use it with some sort of glove or application method, as the salt tends to run away easily.

I know that Cityslicker recently posted about a similar product, but I think they are different enough to warrant a second post. Like the mango exfoliant this body polish is light and gentle, but it also has the antioxidant protection of green tea. I tend to use products infused with green tea a lot, because they are so beneficial to sun damaged skin. I'm 23, so there aren't lots of visible signs of sun damage, but I'm protecting for the future.
This body polish is not really an exfoliant, it really is more like a polish. It is like a face mask only slightly more granular. Things like sugar scrubs can be irritating for me, so I'm psyched that I found this product. It doesn't really have any smell, which is sort of disappointing since I'm a perfume hound. On the flip side though you don't have to worry about getting out of the shower smelling like a bunch of different things...
I really like the way that the polish works though, it gently takes off dry skin, and even off of really rough patches. I'm a fan.

I have had this for a couple of weeks and used it about 6 times. It’s really different from others scrubs I have used. It’s like applying a whipped body cream over your skin then finding that encapsulated within the cream are exfoliants . It’s really gentle but the power of the papaya helps aid in exfoliation naturally without any harsh scrubbing. I found the best way to really get the most out of this product is to rinse in the shower then apply. I know you can stand around freezing but when the shower is on this is easily rinsed away. The scent is light and once rinsed off I don’t notice it at all. It’s gentle enough to shave then use and that is my favorite way... The results are legs that are so soft.

I have been dying dying dying to try this polishing scrub since I received it. It looks absolutely delicious! It's creamy and golden in color (The scent is mango ginger) and when you open the big jar, it smells DELICIOUS! If I wasn't quite right in the head today, and sometimes I'm not, I might grab a spoon and try to eat this. But instead, I did the only thing a girl can really do, I cut out early on my plans and came home specifically to take a shower and use this. All I can say is WOW. I have these annoying little bumps on the back of my arms as well as on the back of my thighs. I have tried to loofah, scrub, washcloth and exfoliate this stuff with creams to no avail. I am sure many of us, both men and women, are annoyed by these little bumps. Well, let me tell you, after one thorough scrubbing with this delectable concoction and there is a hugely marked difference in the softness and texture of those areas. All the alligatorish skin on my shins and ankles is completely gone too! I am truly in love with this stuff, I just wish it came in ten gallon drums so I could be sure to always have an enormous supply on hand.
As as added note, this would make a great gift. Although many people loathe to receive another body wash/body lotion combo gift set, no one in their right mind is going to complain about receiving this!

Review - Bliss Carrot and Sesame Body Buff

This scrub is awesome; it’s like candy in a body scrub!!!!! It smells just like Halva, which is sesame seed fudge that is scrumptious and wonderful smelling. If it is possible this scrub quenched both my skin’s desire for moisture, and my belly’s desire for dessert! Seriously, I would have used it just for the smell, but as it turned out it was also super moisturizing and exfoliating. It has really coarse sea salt in the suspension of oily yummieness so it scuffs off all of the dead skin and leaves you feeling……just wonderful (sigh). This body scrub is a necessary for anyone who loves to pamper themselves every now and again!

Review - Bliss Lemon & Sage Body Scrub

Has the same fresh lemon + sage scent as our best-selling butter. Made to be massaged on pre-shower, it’s circular scrubbing grains lift away dead cells, leaving your skin smooth, supple and silky.
This is, hands down, the best smelling body scrub I have ever used. It smells so delicious I can hardly describe it other than to say, AWESOME. and the scrubbing abilities go above and beyond these two usual possibilities: too little scrub with a not so awesome smell, and too MUCH scrub that makes you feel raw and icky with a not as awesome smell. Did I mention that I love how this stuff smells? Seriously it's fantastic.
For me, OK, sure, $30 for a 12 oz bottle is a bit steeper than what I'd usually pay for a body scrub but I have to admit, it's THAT good that I think I am going to do it, my skin hasn't been this soft and shiny smooth in a while, even after a thorough body scrubbing with other products and my religious affiliation with heavy Moisturizers.
